The Crêt de la Sarre circular route starting from Grandris

Park in the Platanes car park.

(S/E) Walk down Rue Centrale to Rue des Écoles.

(1) Turn left onto this street and continue down Chemin Perret L'Âne. Cross the D504 with care and continue straight ahead on Chemin des Roches until you reach Route de Challière.

(2) Turn right, then straight on at the fork and take the small road on the left which crosses the Ry (picnic table).

(3) At the crossroads, take the first left, a small road that climbs through the meadows.

(4) Take the path on the right, following the GR® markings, then continue left along Route de Challière to the crossroads (stunning views) and then right to the houses of the Challière farm.

(5) Leave the GR® markings and continue along the road that climbs (sign indicating no snow clearance) until you enter the pine forest.

(6) Take the path on the right, following the Tour de Grandris 15 km markings, and cross the entire wood until you reach Route de Nuizières, the D54.

(7) Follow it to the right until you reach a track running alongside a farm with a biogas plant on the right.

(8) Head down this rather rough track for about a hundred metres before reaching some lovely meadows bordered by thick hedges. Continue to the hamlet known as La Rivière. It is a very pretty little hamlet.

(9) Head back up the Route de la Rivière to the right towards Grandris, then turn left onto the Chemin de la Rivière until you reach Rue Grange Bourdon and rejoin Rue Centrale.

Head left towards Place de l’Église, then along the street of the same name until you reach Rue de la Mairie, and return to the car park at Place des Platanes (S/E).

Please note that in March 2026, the path at Crêt Bizet, between points (6) and (7), was blocked for a good thirty metres by a pile of uprooted pine trunks and a tangle of branches that was quite difficult to get through. Check with the town hall to ensure the path has been cleared and add a comment. It was impassable for any vehicle, including bicycles.
