Description of the walk

Start: small car park, near the church on Rue de Guernonval

(S) From the car park, head towards the D99 and follow it to the left. Ignore the two streets branching off to the right and continue until you reach a three-way junction.

(1) Leave the D99 and turn right. A little further on, turn right again and follow the wide, well-surfaced path, ignoring the two tracks branching off to the right. You’ll reach a T-junction.

(2) Head right and, a few metres further on, take the path on the left. It leads to a hut (ugly but a good landmark). Turn left and reach a T-junction opposite the Bois de la Justice (deer are often spotted there).

(3) Turn left and follow the path through the woods until it joins a small road. Follow this road for a few metres to the right.

(4) At the junction, turn left onto a grassy path: this is theGRP® du Ternois (clearly marked in yellow and red), which you will follow south-south-west until you reach the church of Saint-Martin (on the right), ignoring all paths branching off to the left or right.

(5) Leave theGRP® and head up to the left, due north. Pass close to the mast.

(6). Take the first path on the right. Turn left then right and head downhill to join the D99.

(7) Follow it for a few dozen metres to the left, then turn right towards Conteville.

(8) After a few metres, turn left onto a grassy path marked in yellow (in season, there is a lovely herd of cattle in the pasture on the left). 1 km further on, turn left to join the D99.

(9) Take the grassy path on the right that runs alongside it and reach a track. Follow it to the right (still marked in yellow).
Be careful not to take the wide, attractive path on the left leading towards Hestrus, but continue along the grassy path which narrows and eventually turns left.

(10) A nice little climb. Continue along this good path until you reach Rue de Guernonval. Follow it to the left and head towards the church.

We love doing your walks – they’re always lovely and clearly described. We did the last climb in reverse. The baby loved all the animals and kept us company with his babbling throughout the walk. As for your wife, unfortunately I’ve already made a deal: next time I’ll push the pushchair downhill and swap with my son for the climbs!

Well done!!
The grassy paths can’t have been easy with the pushchair.
As for the short but steep final climb, that’s quite an effort. My wife and her friends had a right struggle hauling one of their mates up a few years ago (though the ground was quite muddy)
I hope the baby isn’t too tired.

PS My wife, who suffers from sciatica, is wondering if there’s room in the pushchair.

It was a bit rough in places with the pushchair, but we managed to get through everywhere. A lovely route – we loved it

We did this route on Saturday 19 January 2019
A very beautiful route, even in very cold but sunny weather, which didn’t spoil the views
You must follow the attached description carefully
We recommend it to future hikers

I went on this walk yesterday afternoon in lovely weather. A very pleasant route, with a bit of tarmac but mostly on minor roads, and plenty of grassy paths. As mentioned in the description, I spotted four deer. The distance given in the description is spot on. The only slight discrepancy was in the elevation gain; mine was a bit higher. Highly recommended.

I’ve just re-read the route description and realised that the trail is only signposted in sections… you really do need to have the description to hand to know when to follow the signposts and when to leave them…
But perhaps it was the signposted sections that were actually missing markings?
Thank you for the additional information.

This walk is very poorly signposted – in fact, there are hardly any signs at all – and I ended up going the wrong way twice before I managed to find the route again.
