From Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, head towards Saint-Jean-le-Vieux, then follow the road to Iraty. On leaving Lecumberry, take the D 417 and follow it to the Haitzaldeko farm. There are a few parking spaces on the left just before the farm, which is in ruins.
(S/E) Follow the grassy path that climbs up the ridge towards the south-east, more or less following the road. Pass a hillock (912 m) and then continue eastwards. Go around the hillock at 940 m and then descend northwards to the Col d'Egurze (912 m).
(1) On the right, you can see the path we will take on the way back. Take the path opposite, heading due north, to the Azeria huts.
(2) Pass between the huts and continue on a well-marked path that climbs to Col Haritzarte on the left, heading due north.
(3) Pass to the right of an enclosure and climb the grassy ridge to the south-east between two strips of limestone. This fairly steep but short climb is done in two successive stages to reach the start of the Béhorléguy ridge.
(4) The climb to the summit is easy.
(5) Enjoy the view. The more adventurous can descend by continuing straight ahead along the ridge. For everyone else, retrace your steps to the cross on a rock and take a relatively easy path on the right that leads behind a secondary ridge.
(6) Turn completely right (south-east) and follow this ridge to reach the barns of Aphanize.
(7) Pass to the right and above the barns, then take a path heading south, passing in front of a shed on the right and then winding between a few boulders. Next, cross a sort of natural enclosure.
(8) Turn right (north-west) onto the path and continue in the same direction to reach a viewpoint.
(9) Continue along the path that leads to the Col d'Egurze.
(1) Cross the track and go straight ahead to retrace your steps back to the car (S/E).
