Park along the road after the lake (currently dry) before the Esterençuby junction.
(S/E) Continue south on theGR®10trail, marked in red and white, towards Chalet Pedro via the D18 and cross the stream.
(1) Take a track on the right (GR® 10). The path zigzags uphill through the beech forest. At 1312m, you arrive at a clearing, from where a PR® departs to the right.
(2) Continue straight ahead on theGR®10. After a flat section, the path climbs in open terrain to the Occabé junction. Signpost.
(3) Follow a grassy path on the left that climbs to the left of the first peak to reach the ridge. Follow the ridge on the left, which leads, after a slight curve, to the actual peak at 1,466 metres.
(4) Descend northwards, aiming for a pile of rocks on the left. Pass them on the right and rejoin a grassy path that passes to the left of the first summit. The path joins theGR® 10. Continue to the cromlechs.
(5) Burials dating from the Neolithic period, 1000 years before Christ. The only difficulty here is finding your way. Approach the largest cromlech on the right. Leave theGR®10. From there, head east and look for the first cairn. You will find one very quickly. They mark a path that descends into the forest. It descends fairly quickly and is marked with cairns up to a small summit at 1308m.
(6) Continue along the ridge, following the cairned path, until you reach the Col de Sourzay.
(7) Take the road on the left.
(8) At the first bend, leave this road: to the right of a sheepfold and to the left of a drinking trough, follow a cattle track that runs along the ridge on the right and arrives at a small pass.
(9) Follow a pretty balcony path that heads north-east and then due north. Magnificent viewpoint. The path leads to a water reservoir.
(10) The path passes through a small gap and descends to the Col de Burdinkurutxeta.
(11) Take the track below the road. It winds around and continues to the Muluxeneko sheepfold. Just before reaching the sheepfold, leave the track and descend to the left onto the path marked in yellow and green.
(12) Follow this path, which runs below the road. It crosses a small stream several times. Towards the end, there are a few muddy sections, but this does not detract from the freshness of the site at the end of the hike. The path passes to the right of the old lake, crosses a small bridge and joins the car park (S/E).
