Laniscat walks

A short circular walk to discover the covered alleys listed as Historic Monuments, then the Daoulas Gorges in a somewhat wild rocky environment. A complete change of scenery guaranteed. As a bonus, and for a short 1 km detour, I suggest you visit the ruins of Notre-Dame de Bon Repos Abbey.

Take a short loop around Bon Repos Abbey by following the towpath of the Nantes-Brest canal to the Bellevue lock. The hike continues on theGR®34trail, which runs along the shores of Lake Guerlédan before venturing into the countryside and returning to the abbey.

This hike was completed and written during the summer of 2015, an exceptional period when the lake was drained for dam maintenance.We invite hikers to do this walk in spring, when the colours and scents are at their best, with the clear waters of the lake as a backdrop. Since 2024, major work has been underway between points 3 and 4 with a view to building a free Himalayan footbridge for crossing the Blavet, which cuts the complete tour of the lake in two. This will still be possible for the most experienced walkers. (See note in "Practical information".

Hike on the south side of Lake Guerlédan, starting from the church of Saint-Aignan in the commune of the same name. A rather bucolic route dotted with a few farms. The route runs along the shores of the lake and through the forest surrounding it. The landscapes are therefore very varied. Numerous paths allow you to diversify the route.

Departure from the Church of Saint-Yon in the village of Locuon in the commune of Ploërdut, in search of the springs of the Aër, a stream that takes its source from several small brooks that feed it and which will be discovered throughout this country walk. The trail is signposted and suggested by the Pays du Roy Morvan Tourist Office. Very often wet and muddy in winter, you'll need to be well equipped to complete this trail, or to enjoy it from mid-April to September when the weather is milder. Don't miss the Chapelle de Notre Dame de la Fosse at the end of the tour.

A relaxing walk around the dam lake. The path along the banks is beautifully maintained. The artificial reservoir was created by building a dam at the end of the 19th century to supply the Canal de Nantes à Brest during periods of water shortage. A gauge shows that the water level at the dam can reach 14 metres.

A beautiful circular route around the Kerné Uhel pond along the left bank of the Blavet, then along the river in the Chaos de Toul Goulic. The return trip along a pretty stream will take you back to the hydroelectric dam, then along the right bank, around the Goz-ar Hand peninsula before reaching the bridge and the car park. You will also have the pleasure of seeing many birds of all kinds and lots of remarkable trees.

In the footsteps of the Toileux: 19th-century linen manufacturers; a journey back in time with the Cromlec'h de Lorette (an ancient covered burial passage) ending with the Rigole d'Hilvern: a man-made stream dug to feed the Nantes-Brest Canal - a little-known aspect of Brittany.

A pretty, bucolic circular route through the Breton countryside, around the Glomel ponds and along the Nantes-Brest Canal. This route combines waterways, locks, woods and villages, ideal for a change of scenery.

Since losing its castle, the Rohan fiefdom no longer has its former splendour, but the old houses on its main street are a reminder of its former greatness. From the Scorff, which winds its way at the foot of the town, the route climbs towards the hill of Krénénan after a long detour through the villages of Ploerdut, before reaching the chapel and its magnificent panorama. The return journey follows the Scorff valley and the woods that border it.

Following tourist routes, this loop offers superb panoramic views of the countryside of the Pays du Roi Morvan. It invites you on a journey through a rich historical heritage, including a visit to the Bains de la Reine, the remains of the Château des Rohan and the Maison Limbour in Guémené-sur-Scorff. In Kernascléden, step inside the famous Notre-Dame church with its flamboyant Gothic architecture to discover one of the two danse macabre scenes in Brittany. Cross the street to visit the Maison de la Chauve-Souris (Bat House), where you can immerse yourself in the world of this mysterious mammal.Designed to combine leisure and discovery, this loop proposed by Roi Morvan Communauté is suitable for electric bikes (e-bikes) or hybrid bikes (mountain bikes).This loop has some significant elevation changes over long distances, making it more suitable for experienced cyclists.

This circular walk around Maël-Pestivien will take you to several megalithic sites such as the Roch Du Dolmen and the Chaire des Druides, as well as a few local heritage monuments such as the Saint-Isidore and Loc'h chapels. You will walk along various paths, including farm tracks, white roads, forest trails and tarmac roads.

This hike will take you through the Rigole d'Hilvern on good paths. In the Middle Ages, according to legend, Saint-Caradec belonged to the Viscounty of Rohan. A smallpox epidemic occurred between 1865 and 1870, claiming 45 lives. Then, in 1902, a typhoid fever epidemic broke out in the region.

This magnificent loop takes you along beautiful country roads to the Drukpa Buddhist centre in Plouray, a unique place to visit and discover in Brittany, offering an immersion in Himalayan culture and spirituality. It also invites you to discover the Carrière de Locuon, a village built on a granite site marked by Gallo-Roman history, and the commune of Ploërdut, which has been awarded the Commune du Patrimoine Rural de Bretagne label.

This circuit invites you to explore central Brittany, a hilly countryside dotted with cultivated fields, woods and peaceful landscapes. Along the route, you will discover a rich religious heritage: chapels and churches with remarkable architecture, open to the public and accompanied by information panels recounting their history. The route will also take you to the commune of Guémené-sur-Scorff, where you can discover the Bains de la Reine (Queen's Baths), the remains of the Rohan castle, the Maison Limbour and half-timbered houses. This loop also offers superb panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, for an experience that is both cultural and natural.

The Bois d'Avaugour and Meur offer a mix of paved paths and trails. The Tro Vras circuit follows the western loop with beautiful trails through moorland, along the Avaugour (which reveals its beauty in winter when the vegetation allows it to be seen) and forest paths. The transition to the eastern loop is challenging (with mud in winter) but offers views of some very beautiful trees. The eastern loop, pleasant at first, is less interesting on the way back, except for the last three kilometres, which descend between tree stumps. The extension with the loop along the Avaugour first follows an unmaintained trail and becomes difficult in summer with tall grass and brambles.

This easy, accessible loop takes you to the Abbaye Notre-Dame de Langonnet, a remarkable site in the Pays du Roi Morvan that is not to be missed, as well as two archaeological sites: the Tumulus and Motte Castrale de Kermain. You will also discover chapels, churches and fountains, as well as the courtroom in Priziac. At the end of the route, extend your walk with a relaxing break at the Lac du Bel Air in Priziac, where you can picnic, go paddleboarding, windsurfing or pedal boating, or simply enjoy the natural surroundings. There is also a well-equipped children's playground by the lake and at the Pontigou pond in Langonnet.

Historically dedicated to Marc Faucon (a pioneer of hiking in the Côtes d'Armor), this hike will allow nature lovers to explore the foothills of the Gouët and the wooded hills of the surrounding countryside.

This loop invites you to cycle through the heart of a landscape typical of central Brittany. As you ride along, you will pass through villages and hamlets, discover chapels, churches and fountains, and enjoy superb views of the surrounding countryside, with a magnificent shaded road running alongside the Scorff valley. Halfway up the hill, stop off at the medieval hamlet of Pont Callec, a must-see in the Pays du Roi Morvan!
