The second part of the tour of Lake Guerlédan, the most physically demanding, particularly at the start. Departure from Le Manet towards Anse de Sordan, passing by the former Abbey of Notre-Dame de Bon Repos. Return route via the western side of the lake.

Description of the walk

(S) Start from the Mané car park, heading straight on along a well-marked path towards Beau Rivage, pass this hamlet and continue to the D111.

(1) Follow this road to the next junction.

(2) Turn left, following the red and white markings, and continue until you reach a forest track on the left.

(3) Leave the road by entering this wooded area and continue to an old slate quarry, “La Belle Bleue”. You can go down into the cave.

(4) Return to the path to the Trégnanton slipway.

(5) Go straight on along a small, poorly signposted path which will take you uphill. A small yellow sign is located next to the start of this path.

(6) Turn left at the junction, then head back down towards the lake. Continue on to Trégnanton.

(7) Turn left along the road, then continue along a path.

(8) Turn right to stay in the forest and continue to the Bellevue car park.

(9) Turn left to join the Blavet towpath.

(10) You can shorten the walk by crossing the Blavet via the lock. Otherwise, continue straight on along the towpath until you come within sight of the former Abbey of Notre-Dame de Bon Repos. You will emerge onto the D44.

(11) Turn left and cross the bridge. At the end of the bridge, turn left, staying on the D44. Continue to the Ruisseau des Forges bridge

(12) After the bridge and the sign marking the entrance to Morbihan, leave the road and turn left onto a forest track. Continue to Anse de Sordan (E).

We walked around the lake in two days (day 1: 18 km; day 2: 18 km), leaving the car at the Beau Rivage water sports centre (car park) and setting off on foot from Anse de Dorsan. We spent the night in a guesthouse at the cove along the route (camping is also possible). We left the next day to return to the water sports centre. It was a beautiful hike, but you need to be in good physical condition as the terrain is uneven.

One Sunday in late April, there were lots of runners, especially in the morning.
The loop around the lake took 10 hours to complete during the day – simply magnificent.
