Lake Guerlédan via the Guerlédan Dam and the Trou à Cochons

Hike on the south side of Lake Guerlédan, starting from the church of Saint-Aignan in the commune of the same name. A rather bucolic route dotted with a few farms. The route runs along the shores of the lake and through the forest surrounding it. The landscapes are therefore very varied. Numerous paths allow you to diversify the route.

Description of the walk

Car park near the church of Saint-Aignan.
GR®37 and GR®341 red and white markings.

(S/E) From the church of Saint-Aignan, head north and follow the Blavet towards the dam, keeping to the left when the GR®37 continues to the right and the GR®341 comes from it. Now follow the latter.

(1) Leave the banks of the Blavet on the left to climb the slope. Stop at the Saint-Trémeur fountain, then continue north following the GR®. Cross the D31 and continue to the Sainte-Tréphine chapel.

(2) Beautiful view of the dam and the valley. Continue straight ahead to descend to the lake shore. Leave the GR®341 at the car park and continue downhill to reach the lake shore. View of the Guerlédan Dam on the right.

(3) Turn back to the chapel.

(2) Continue straight ahead on the ridge for about 400 metres.

(4) Take the path on the left and leave the PR®. The path rejoins the PR® further on; follow it to the left to reach a crossroads with several paths.

(5) Turn right for a few metres, leaving the PR® opposite, and follow the path on the left, heading north at the start. The path rejoins the PR® further on. Take it on the right and descend to the lake shore. On the shore, rejoin the GR®341.

(6) Follow it to the left along the lake. There is a campsite on the other side of the lake.

(7) Climb up to the left on a path, heading south until you rejoin the PR®, then follow it to the right.

(8) After about 200 m, it turns right towards Botponal. At number 8, continue along the road and turn right twice, going around the house to head west on the PR®, which has become a path again.

(9) Beautiful view of the Butte de Malvran opposite. Continue left on the PR®, after about 200 m, turn left towards the house at number 2 on the road, onto a gravel path. The path leads to a road at a place called Le Trou à Cochons.

(10) Turn left, leaving the cul-de-sac on your right. After 50 metres, just before the house, follow the PR® which veers to the right and follow it through the undergrowth to a road. Follow this road straight ahead for about 100 metres, then follow the path opposite which returns to the undergrowth for about 250 metres, veering to the left at the end and rejoining the road.

(11) Turn right and continue for 300 metres. At the crossroads, follow the path on the right towards Korn er Lann. Keep left until you reach the crossroads of four paths 800 metres further on.

(12) Turn right, staying on the PR®. Continue straight ahead for 1.2 km, passing the hamlet of La Carrière Botlan.

(13) Leave the PR® and take the path on the right which winds through the woods and descends towards Toul er Roch (Toll er Rulh).

(14) Turn left and pass the nursery, continue for about 180 m until you reach the crossroads, then take the path on the right, Chemin de la Lande (reserved for residents), and continue straight ahead downhill until you reach the car park (S/E).
