Car park opposite the village hall
(S/E) When you leave the car park, turn left onto Rue Laurent Niogret.
(1) At the first crossroads, turn left onto the RD84, then left again onto Ruelle Lambinet. Follow the Hogneau river along a grassy path under the trees. At the end of the lane, join Rue des Anglais.
(2) Follow this road straight ahead. At the end of the road is Chemin Jean Lion, a green, enclosed path. Enjoy the panoramic view of the pastures, cultivated fields and bell towers of the surrounding villages.
(3) At the Chapelle de la Toureille chapel, continue straight ahead on Chemin de la Louvière, an imposing monastic farm and former tithe barn, then along Chemin de la Buse.
(4) Turn left onto Rue des Alliés. You will arrive at a place called La Folie.
(5) Turn left and continue straight ahead. You will reach the Sainte-Philomène Chapel at the crossroads.
(6) Turn right, then at the lime tree in the place known as Arbre du Petit Bon Dieu, continue straight on Chemin des Potiers, which separates France from Belgium. At the end of the road, turn right.
(7) Turn left immediately. Pass the cemetery and continue to Hergies. Cross Hergies, going straight ahead at the crossroads – note the blue stone houses.
(8) Opposite the church, turn left onto Rue Gaston Genarte.
(9) At the Chapelle du Court Tournant, turn right onto Rue de la Marne to reach the Chapelle du Pissautiau or Chapelle de la Sainte-Famille, a remarkable chapel built of blue stone and slate. Continue straight ahead to the Pont des Bergers. On the way, note the old stone quarries on either side.
(10) After the bridge, turn left along the old "Hon-Hergies-Bettrechies" railway line. Walk along the Hogneau again. On the left, the sluice gate forms a waterfall. Continue your walk between the river and the green, shaded site and you will reach the old station at the end of the track.
(11) Take the road on the right and then immediately left onto Rue de la Gare. Follow the river again. Pass the church of Hon with its famous bell tower in the shape of an upside-down tulip, and you will return to your starting point (S/E).
