La Table des Hussards as seen from Crézancy

Parking: you can park in the car park near the football pitch at the bottom of Rue de Paris in Crézancy, by the Surmelin Valley tourist sign.

(S/E) From the car park, walk up Rue de Paris towards Château-Thierry.

(1) Take the hairpin bend to the right and follow the arrow towards Mézy. Continue straight on along this farm track for 1.2 km, skirting the forest, until you reach the road, then turn right towards Moulins.

(2) After the railway line, take the path immediately on the left, slightly lower down. Pass under another railway line and continue to the church at Mézy.

(3) After the church, take the path on the right and follow the arrow towards Moulins. Turn right onto the path and continue straight on for about 250 m.

(4) You’ll come out onto another path; follow it to the right and walk alongside the Marne on your left.

(5) Take the footbridge over the Surmelin at its confluence with the Marne. Carry on alongside the Marne for about a hundred metres, then head up to the right towards the village. Take care when crossing the railway line at the level crossing. Before you reach the first houses, turn right onto Chemin des Grands Clos. Then turn left onto Rue du Patis. At the stop sign, cross the road and take Rue de la Fontaine directly opposite.

(6) Turn right onto Rue de Parroy. After 200 metres, turn left onto Rue Collinet towards the vineyards. Then turn left at the metal barriers.

(7) Head up the vineyard path on the right and carry on straight on until you reach the woodland. Follow the path between the vineyards and the woodland for 300 metres. After the bend and on the descent, take the path on the left which leads into the woods. After 100 metres, at the Fork in the road, keep right. The Pierre des Cosaques is visible on the right, below you, before you cross the ditch. Continue down the slope between the vineyards and the woodland until you reach the road.

(8) At the bottom of the street, turn left onto Rue de Parroy. Continue straight on along the path below the vineyards and stay on the grassy track. You will reach Rue de Launay in the hamlet of Paroy.

(9) Turn right onto this road and follow the arrow towards Crézancy to reach, straight ahead on the D1003, the car park, crossing the bridge over the Surmelin and the level crossing (S/E).
