Park at Grand Place, Gussignies.
(S/E) On the Grand Place (castle, kiosk and apiary). With your back to the kiosk, turn left down the Ruelle des Marchelles. Pass the entrance to the "Jardin au Naturel" (= "natural garden") : feel free to push open the gate and visit this miniature showcase of the natural environments of the Parc Naturel Régional de l'Avesnois. Turn off at Rue du Bourlard, cross the road and go down the path opposite.
Take the bridge over the Hogneau, head towards the Brasserie "Au Baron" and turn right into Rue du Piémont. Take the first path on the left, passing under an old railway bridge. The path, a former railroad track, was dug into the rock.
At the junction, go straight ahead through the barrier. Overlooking the course of the Hogneau, you come to an old stone quarrying site. Continue along the crushed bluestone path.
(1) After the stairs, turn left and, 50m after the bridge, descend to the left. The path winds through undergrowth. At the next junction, turn left, then continue at the foot of the embankment - do not climb the path to the right. Climb steadily to reach the viewpoint over the quarry, which is still in operation.
(1) Take the staircase and descend to the left through the undergrowth to a sewage treatment plant. Continue straight ahead.
(2) Join the Musée du Marbre (Marble museum) on the left. After the bridge over the Hogneau, turn slightly right into Rue Virginette.
(3) After the "Gussignies" sign, turn left onto the Vieux Chemin de Bavay.
(4) Turn left onto Chemin Royal, which joins the Grand Place. (S/E)
