La Minette and the Frénouse Stream

To the north of Baillé, this walk will take us past the various streams that make up the protected watercourse network designed to supply the Breton capital with drinking water. We will, of course, follow the Minette, but also two of the streams that feed into it: the Frénouse stream and then the Panlivard stream.

Description of the walk

Park in the car park at Baillé church.

(S/E) Set off southwards, with your back to the church. Cross the main road (Rue des Rosiers) and, between the houses, take a path heading south-southeast.

(1) Turn left and cross a stream, heading north-north-east. After the first houses, veer right to reach La Minette. Follow it, turning left.

(2) Take the D18 local road to the right for 100m, then turn left, following the Route des Fléges.

(3) After 150m, take the path on the left heading north-north-east. It isn’t shown on maps but is clearly visible on the ground. It ends at the Route de la Touche, which you should follow to the right for a few tens of metres.

(4) After passing the buildings, take the path on the left and continue along it.

(5) Turn right onto a farm track when the path bends to the left. When you reach the banks of the Ruisseau de Frénouse, turn left and head due north.

(6) Cross the D113 and continue straight ahead, still following the stream.

(7) At the road, turn left. Ignore the first road on the right leading to Bel Orient, but take the second on the right towards the Red Cross. Before reaching the houses at Le Houx, turn onto the track on the left and continue along it, heading west.

(8) Cross the D102 and carry on straight ahead. Follow the path as it bends left towards the south. Carry on straight ahead until you reach the Croix des Cinq Chemins.

(9) Carry on straight ahead and follow the path to the right after 80 metres. Turn left onto the road, then right after about 50 metres. You’ll reach Panlivard and its stream.

(10) Continue south-west, then south. The path becomes a road and leads to the village. Carry on to the church to reach the car park (S/E).

Hello,
a lovely walk, with some beautiful paths and few roads (just a few to cross…), though the signposting could do with some work (it’s practically non-existent) or could be improved – from the very first fork in the path, there were no signs; fortunately, the description and the map indicated which way to go.
The second confusing spot is at point 4: there’s no signposting, and although it says to take the path, it’s actually a farm track. In fact, we missed it the first time, so we had to retrace our steps.
Nothing too serious! And the countryside is magnificent; walking alongside these streams is a real pleasure. (A few damp patches – make sure you wear suitable footwear.)

Enjoy the walk, everyone! Kty

A very pleasant walk, with varied, gently undulating countryside, partly following a stream.
Motorbikes are not allowed on the paths, which prevents them from being rutted, but even so, two or three sections are tricky in winter.
All in all, a very enjoyable walk.

A pleasant route alongside the water as it babbles through the streams. Very peaceful. Wooded countryside. In winter, make sure you wear wellies as some sections of the path are completely flooded. Quite a few paths are off-limits to quad bikes, so they’re in good condition. Thanks to the local councils. A few barking dogs, but none are off the lead.
