Start at the Col de la Croix Fry. Park in one of the three car parks, either, when coming from Manigod: along the small road that branches off to the left just before the pass; to the right of the D16, at the junction with this small road; at the pass itself.
Signposts are present at major intersections.
(S/E) Head north and take the small road towards Pointe de Beauregard and Sur les Frêtes. At the fork that appears immediately (hiking map), turn left.
(1) Then turn right with the road, ignore a turn-off on the left and continue on a stony track. Ignore another turn-off on the left, rejoin the tarmac and climb steeply.
(2) At the "Les Adrais" signpost, continue straight ahead on a flat track towards Pointe de Beauregard. Descend slightly and walk between the mountain pastures.
(3) At a fork, continue straight ahead towards Pointe de Beauregard and enter a spruce forest. Stay on the main track and ignore all turnings on the right. Leave the forest and climb northwards. Follow a few hairpin bends, pass under a ski lift twice and reach a junction directly below Pointe de Beauregard.
(4) Turn right and quickly reach the summit (panoramic view).
(5) Retrace your steps.

(6) Take the third path on the right (wide) and go around a building on the right. Further on, pass a shelter on the right and reach a T-junction.
(7) Turn left towards La Vargne and walk along the shaded path. Pass the La Vargne chalet on your right. At the next intersection, pass the entrance to the Poutassets chalet on your right. Continue until you reach a signpost at another intersection.
(9) Continue straight ahead (south). At the next junction, continue straight ahead and reach the signpost marked "Les Poutassets Est".
(10) Continue straight ahead towards the Croix de Colomban. Cross a stream and climb up to the Lachat chalet. At the flat section, continue along a grassy path which soon gives way to a steep, stony track. Stay on the track, ignore two paths on the right and you will reach the Colomban chalet (beautiful view).
(11) Turn right towards the cross and walk along the chalet on your right. Alternate between short climbs and short descents, open passages and wooded passages. At a fork, turn right to reach the clearly visible cross.
(12) Retrace your steps back to the Chalet de Colomban.
(11) Then turn right towards Sur les Frêtes and continue on relatively flat ground. After about 250 m, at a fork, take the path on the right.
(13) At the end of the left-hand bend, turn right and descend.
(14) At a fork, turn left. Walk along the mountainside.
(15) At another fork, descend to the right. Ignore all the paths on the left and continue to an intersection.
(16) Then turn left at an acute angle. Ignore the turn-offs on the right. Cross a stream and you will immediately reach an intersection.
(17) Turn right and descend. Continue straight ahead until you reach the hairpin bend of the road you took at the start of the hike.
(1) Follow the road to the right, turn right with it and return to the starting pass (S/E).
