Description of the walk

Park near the church at La Chapelle in Manigod.

(S/E) Head towards the D16 in the direction of Thônes, walk past the church, then, at the post office, take a path on the left. Continue, crossing the La Cour Dessous neighbourhood whilst staying on the path. Carry on downhill, generally heading south.

(1) Cross the River Fier via a footbridge. About 100 metres further on, ignore the path on the left (private property) and take the path on the right, following the signposts. Cross a stream and pass through La Proverange. Take the road until you reach a hairpin bend.

(2) Continue straight ahead along the path.

(3) Take care here: the path descends steeply down a ridge. Walk alongside a fenced-off field and you will reach the entrance to the hamlet of Prapoz. Take care here__: the path shown on the IGN map no longer appears to be accessible.
It has been signposted to bypass this property. Currently, after the descent, this path is littered with fallen trees, making the route difficult but it remains visible nonetheless.
Once past the property, rejoin the path. Continue on, passing through the hamlet of Les Pettières. Turn right onto the road leading downhill to reach the hamlet of Le Crêt des Vys.

(4) Turn right onto the track, pass in front of a chalet, then continue along a path to La Cordy. Take the road opposite and head for the junction known as La Grange. Follow this new road to the left, cross the D16 and climb up to the chapel at Villard-dessous.

(5) Stay on the road; a few metres further on, take the path leading uphill to the left.
Pass between the chalets at La Pusaz, then a little further on, take the path leading uphill to the right, which joins a crossroads at a place called Froide Pierre.

(6) Take this road to the right as far as the next hairpin bend. Leave the road and head straight ahead onto the footpath. Cross a stream and keep to the right to reach the road leading off to the left towards Les Bréviaires. Walk past the recycling centre to reach the hamlet.

(7) Take the path uphill towards Croix Fry, cross a track, and arrive at Champ Roz. Continue uphill until you reach the path junction at a place called Les Murailles.

(8) Turn right and begin the final descent. Stay on the path, cutting across the various bends in the road, to return to the car park at La Chapelle church (S/E).

A route of little interest to tourists. The description is somewhat vague on certain points, which is prone to misinterpretation.

This route requires you to be very careful: there are lots of changes of direction, which are often signposted but not always.
The detour at Prapoz requires particular care, especially as on the day I took it, there were lots of trees lying across the path, obstructing the route.
Generally speaking, the paths are steep, both uphill and downhill, and can be wet.
