(S/E) From the town hall, take Rue Principale, with the restaurant on your left and the church on your right. At the crossroads, continue along Rue de Hohwarth towards Barr (D203). Before leaving the village, take a small road on the right, marked Chevalet Bleu, to pass in front of the cemetery on your left. Continue along the path at the edge of the forest. When you reach the meadows, you will come to a crossroads after a hunting blind. You will see a sign with information about the local flora.
(1) Turn right onto a stony path leading uphill. The path first goes through the forest and then along the edge of it, heading south towards the village of Saint-Maurice. When you see a wooden table at the crossroads, continue along the path to the right, which descends to the village of Saint-Maurice via Rue du Beau Site. Ignore Rue des Mésanges on the left and, at the next fork in the road, turn left (always follow the signs). Continue downhill with the church in your sights until you reach a crossroads with a small roundabout.
(2) Turn left and walk slightly uphill to the next intersection at No. 34 Rue de l'Église.
(3) Leave the return path on your left and continue to the end of the village. It then follows a stream on your right, crosses it and climbs back up into the forest to reach a T-junction about 200 m higher up.
(4) Turn left. After a meadow with numerous beehives on your left, continue straight ahead (ignore the turn-off to the right towards Thanvillé), with a view of Saint-Gilles Church. After a grove of trees, the path leads to a four-way intersection. Turn left (off the marked path) to reach the D203 departmental road.
(5) Take care when approaching the D203 to cross, and first turn left then right to join the Chevalet Jaune signposting. Walk along the edge of a fir tree enclosure, towards Ungersberg. Continue to follow the signposted path until you reach a memorial to an American airman.
(6) Cross the forest path and continue straight ahead on the yellow signposted path towards Baerenberg. At a three-way junction in the path, turn left, then after a dip, climb up opposite, following the signs, and you will reach a crossroads (direction signs).
(7) Turn right towards Albeville (ignore the direction to Sauloch). This is followed by a fairly steep climb. At the top, the path heads north to reach the Ungersberg Forest Road, which you can reach via the marked trail on the right.
(8) Descend the path marked with red-white-red rectangles towards Saint-Gilles and Saint-Pierre-Bois, ignoring the yellow and green marked trails on either side. Cross a forest road and continue straight ahead for about 150 metres.
(9) On the descent, the marked trail turns right, heading south, following a modified route. Near a stream, turn left. At the crossroads with a path (blue ring), keep to the right and you will arrive at a beautiful oratory. Continue past the small holiday cottages and join the D203 road at another oratory.
(10) Cross carefully and continue along a small road towards the stadium and Saint-Gilles Church.
(11) Go to the left of the church, see a themed sign, then follow the path below the church, marked with a red and white rectangle. Descend to the village of Saint-Pierre-Bois at the intersection with Rue Principale (D903).
(12) Leave the marked trail and turn right for about 200 metres until you reach number 64 on the street. At the railing by the stream, turn left and head uphill. At the last house (no. 12), turn right along the fence onto a sunken path. At the top, continue straight ahead. You will come to the same crossroads you passed on the way there, just before the D203.
(5) Turn left and follow the yellow signposts in the opposite direction along the path you took on the way there.
(4) Turn right and you will come to the crossroads opposite No. 34 Rue de l'Église.
(3) Turn right and descend into the village of Saint-Maurice, then turn right at a lodge (wrought iron fence with brick facing wall). Go up a wide path to a three-way junction with a cross.
(13) Keep left. Further up, after an oratory, continue straight ahead, then at a three-way junction, turn left. At the edge of the forest, continue straight ahead until you reach the RD203. Cross carefully and continue straight ahead for a few dozen metres, then turn left and right towards the entrance to a path.
(14) Descend towards the village of Triembach-Au-Val, keep left (parallel to the road). Continue along Rue du Silberberg then Rue Saint-Gilles to return to the starting point (S/E).
