Description of the walk

(S/E) From the Villé Tourist Office, walk up Rue René Kuder and pass the church. At the corner of the church, turn left towards the Collège du Klosterwald. The street climbs steeply for about 200 metres. Pass the primary school and then cross a bus parking area.

(1) Then turn right onto Rue de Bellevue and walk past the secondary school. Enter the forest by taking the tarmac forest road towards the Col du Banc du Forestier (red disc markings).

(2) At a fork, continue on the left where the markings change to yellow, still climbing towards Col du Banc du Forestier.

(3) At the pass, continue to the right (west) for about 100 metres, then turn left onto the path marked with a blue cross and yellow disc. You are now on a slight incline. Look for a very narrow and therefore not very visible path on the left (the markings are positioned on a stake to help you spot it).

(4) Turn left onto this path (marked with a yellow disc). Descend.

(5) In the hollow of a valley, turn sharply left, still following the yellow disc markings. Then turn left. Cross a street and follow Rue de la Hollée to reach Lalaye Town Hall.

(6) Turn left onto Rue de Bassemberg, towards the cycle path, following the yellow signposts and yellow rings. Further on, take the cycle path and follow the Giessen stream to the village of Bassemberg (yellow signposts), which you enter via Rue Principale.

(7) At the junction with the D39, first turn right then left and continue along the cycle path towards Villé. Continue along the stream, passing the swimming pool and campsite.

(8) Cross the D439 road and take the last section of cycle path directly opposite.

(9) At the end, turn left onto Rue de l'Abattoir after leaving the cycle path, which continues along the stream. At the junction, turn left onto Rue des Bouchers. At the end, you will find the starting point immediately on your left (S/E).

A gentle hike! In the forest!
Apart from the forest, there aren't many points of interest! (Except mushrooms and autumn colours when it's the season!)
The return trip along the banks of the Giessen is pleasant, but nothing more!

I went hiking early in the morning during the week and didn't meet anyone until I reached Bassemberg.
A great walk in the shade of the forest. The route is nice for hiking and running. The climbs are relatively gentle. The route is suitable for dogs, which is great.
