La Chasserelle

Marked route No. 99.
The car park for the start of this walk is located on Avenue Jean Jaurès at the foot of the Jardins d'Eau.

(S/E) Opposite the toilet block, take the path at the foot of the sign for the Jardins d’Eau. Pass the playground on your left, then the wash house. Cross the river branch on your left and take the path at the end of the footbridge.
Pass the chicane and turn right onto Rue Basse. At the junction, turn left onto Avenue Pierre de Courtenay.
At the junction with Rue du Château, turn right. Continue straight on along the castle walls. Turn left into Rue du Parc.

(1) Cross Avenue Paul Bert with care and head up Chemin des Vignes opposite. Shortly after the last houses, turn right onto the path overlooking the Chasserelle. Ignore the path on the right.

(2) Ignore a path branching off to the left. Further on, the field and the path are difficult to distinguish at certain times of the year. At the road, turn right and head towards the hamlet of La Bretauche. Turn left in the hamlet and then, on leaving it, take the path lined with hedges on the right.

(3) Cross the D22 with care and head left for about a hundred metres. Leave this road and take a tarmac track leading into a wooded area. Continue along this track, ignoring all the paths and lanes on the right and left.

(4) At the junction signposted for Les Danons, turn in that direction. The road soon turns into a path. Once past the Étang des Luneaux (private), turn left. The route alternates between woodland and fields. Ignore the first path on the left.

(5) Take the second path, this time on the right. Continue along this path, ignoring the path leading down to the left. You will come out onto the D64.

(6) Cross with care, keeping to the right-hand verge. Cross the D90c with care to descend to the path about fifty metres further on. Follow this path and cross the D90c towards Bois Rousseau. Immediately afterwards, turn left to cross the D90c again a little further on.

(7) Turn left into Rue du Grand Champ. Head down to the right into Rue des Cailloteries to reach the D90.

(8) Cross this busy road with care. Head down the small road, cross the Loing and, after a few bends ((9) near Rigole de Saint-Privé), you will reach the sewage treatment plant.

(10) Turn left onto a path running alongside a hedge (not shown on the IGN map). At the end, a gap allows you to cross into a green space. Follow the Loing river to the square and the playground. Join Rue du Loing by turning left, and continue to the junction with Avenue Jean Jaurès.

(11) Cross this busy avenue with care. Head straight ahead into Rue de l’Épalu and pass the motorhome site. In front of the building, turn left and cross the bridge. Pass the fish ladder on your left. In the lane, turn left, then cross a branch of the river via another bridge. At the end, turn left to reach the car park (S/E).

Although this route is quite long, it does not present any particular difficulties. The paths are generally quite wide. Some sections may be muddy in places following a prolonged period of rain.
Road crossings should be approached with caution; although speed limits apply in these sections, vigilance is still required.
This route, signposted in accordance with the signposting guidelines of the Puisaye-Forterre Community of Communes, is marked with the number 99 on yellow-backed signs.
