The Friends of Harpignies Trail

Access to the car park is via Allée Robert Baron and Renée Baron-Peyrou, with a few spaces on the right or at the end of this lane. Avoid parking at the edge of the pond.

(S/E) Walk along the right-hand side of the pond to reach the Rigole de Saint-Privé. In front of this ditch, turn right. When you reach the small arched bridge over the ditch, cross it and you will come to a tarmac road.

(1) Cross and climb the sunken path. At the crossroads, turn left, cross between the house and the farm, and you will reach the road (no signpost - April 2019).

(2) Go down this road on the left. At the entrance to the first bend, take the hairpin bend on the right (signposted "Camerolle"). Halfway up, turn left (viewpoint over the village) and continue to the next crossroads. Turn left, keep the boundary wall on your left and you will reach Rue du Tumulus opposite the cemetery.

(3) Turn right and walk along the cemetery wall. At the three-way junction, keep left on Rue du Tumulus and continue straight ahead to the end. Opposite the path, walk down Rue du Stade to Rue de la Puisaye (D90).

(4) Cross carefully. Turn left and then immediately right towards the Cultural Centre. In front of the car park, describe a right-left turn for a one-way trip to the Loing. Before the footbridge and the spot displaying one of Henri Harpignies' works, turn around and walk along the Henri Harpignies Cultural Centre. Go down the path, walk along the ditch, cross it and reach Rue de la Puisaye. Cross carefully using the protected crossing.

Head back up towards the town centre via Rue Henri Harpignies, passing in front of the church to arrive at Square du Souvenir. Climb the wide steps on the left and you will arrive in front of La Trémellerie, the former home of Henri Harpignies. Opposite the building, turn left and then left again before the cemetery entrance. In front of the church, turn right onto Rue du Lavoir. Opposite the wash house, turn left, then right onto Rue Henri Harpignies to reach the pond (S/E).

This route is marked with small enamel signs attached at each change of direction.

The cultural centre is an energy-positive building constructed in 2018.
Shortly after the cultural centre, on the right, there is a water gate. It allows water to be drawn from the Loing and sent to the Briare Canal via the Rigole de Saint-Privé, which takes its name from this location and continues to the junction with the canal at Rogny-les-Sept-Écluses.
