Start from the car park at Bévenais church.
(S/E) Leave the car park, heading north along Chemin de la Pacalière, pass the shops and climb towards the hill.
At the first crossroads, follow the signs for Chapelle de la Salette, Pré Berton, which will take you to the right. At a crossroads, follow the yellow arrow to the right and at the fork, take the left branch (signposted Notre-Dame de la Salette).
(1) You will arrive at the Chapelle de Notre-Dame de la Salette, isolated in the middle of the woods. Continue downhill opposite (still heading north) towards the Col de Michenant. At a fork, despite the yellow cross, take the left fork. At the next fork, to balance things out, take the right fork. A little while later, at another fork, take the left branch and then leave the woods, keeping to the right.
(2) After a steep descent, ignore a path that comes in on the right. Cross a dirt road junction and continue straight ahead. Again, ignore a path that comes in on the right.
(3) When you reach a small tarmac road, turn right. This turns into a dirt track and almost immediately leads to the Étang du Marais. Walk along the left-hand side of the lake.
(4) When you reach the end of the pond, leave the path that turns right and take a less obvious path on the left. Gradually climb up the valley, continuing straight ahead until you reach the metal cross at La Grateisse.
(5) You will first come to a signpost (it has been dug up, probably by foresters working in the area. It has been put back up, but pranksters may change the directions...). At the signpost, turn left. Walk past the metal cross. Ignore the path that branches off to the left at this point and continue straight ahead. Walk downhill at a leisurely pace until you come to another sign on the right indicating "Bévenais - 2.2 km".
(6) Turn right. The descent becomes quite steep.
(7) When you reach a small tarmac road, turn right and when it curves to the left, continue straight ahead along Chemin des Sources (it climbs slightly). Follow this small road.
(8) After a wide bend to the left, take a path on the right (signposted "voie sans issue" or "dead end"). It leads to a small road that descends quite steeply. Follow this small road on the left. You will come to a T-junction. Turn left, then right onto Rue de la Charrière, which will take you back to your starting point (S/E).
