Description of the walk

Start at the hamlet of Les Daurens (towards the Col d’Ornon), after Le Périer when coming from Entraigues. Park along the road as you reach the hamlet of Les Daurens.

(S/E) Cross the hamlet, heading uphill to the right to join a forest track. This heads due south and crosses a magnificent beech forest (altitude approx. 1,200 m).

(1) The track narrows and changes direction, heading north-east and then east. Ignore a path on the left and continue to the peatlands.

(2) This section requires care, especially on wet ground. Head into the forest.

(3) The difficult sections are now over. Head for the Col du Touret (signpost).

(4) Turn right towards Le Touret and its magnificent viewpoint. Another short tricky section if the ground is wet.

(5) Retrace your steps back to the pass.

(4) Take the faintly marked path on the right. Descend gently to the Issart junction (altitude 1240m).

(6) Turn right. The descent continues without difficulty to the village of Le Périer, passing close to a sawmill. At the junction, turn right to join the D526.

(7) Turn right again, following the Malsanne. After 2.5 km on tarmac, reach the car park (S/E).

A circular loop done in reverse starting from Le Perrier!
A steady climb in the second half, but a comfortable descent!
Beautiful viewpoint and plenty of chamois

A lovely walk, especially with the autumn colours of the forests and the snow-capped peaks!
The paths were quite muddy in places, but the views were magnificent.
The only downside (and quite a significant one): the return journey along the main road. It’s tedious, even in this landscape. We should have turned off and found a path running more or less parallel to the D. The stretch is a bit too long...

A lovely walk with a climb through the shade of the forest, which is lovely in this heatwave! A stunning view at the top and an easy descent – thank you!

Hello.
Starting point: Le Perrier (7) to reach the hamlet of Les Daurens (1) and continue the route. The GR trail that ran alongside La Malsanne is no longer very passable in its second section. It is better to follow the D526. At Les Daurens, the direction is clearly signposted when you leave the main road. After that, the route description or a map may be useful as signposting is a bit lacking. After point 1, it’s fine.
At this time of year, the carpet of very dry fallen leaves called for caution, as did the few damp and/or tricky sections.
From the pass, you have to tackle three short, steep climbs to reach Le Touret and its magnificent views, which are not to be missed.
A lovely walk where I didn’t meet a soul.
