(S/E) From the Demouge sawmill car park, stay on the left bank of the Ruisseau des Belles Filles stream. Go up Rue de Chauveroche and follow it until you reach a right-hand bend, near a pond.
(1) Turn left onto the forest path just after the water tower. Cross the bridge over the Ruisseau des Belles Filles. Immediately turn right, on the right bank of the stream, onto the steep path to rejoin the forest path higher up, which turns left (in a hairpin bend).
(2) Take the path on the right. Continue along the stream to rejoin the forest path further up. Cross it again. Continue straight ahead, following the markings.
(3) (Alt. 913 m) Arrive at the Belles Filles lake. Walk along the left side of the lake. Follow the path that climbs to the left, heading west, and winds through the trees to join theGR®533at an elevation of 996 metres. Take it to the left.
(4) Arrive at La Planche des Belles Filles ski resort
Turn left onto the path that climbs east of the ski lift.
Pass by the monument to the FFI (French Forces of the Interior who resisted in 1944).
(5) Arrive at the Haute-Planche refuge (100 m to the right of the path). Turn left.
Continue climbing to reach Roche Fendue, the highest point. (20 m to the left of the path)
(6). Continue to the left. Descend and arrive at Chaume du Querty. Beautiful flora and superb views.
(7) After the refuge, turn right. After 200 m in the forest, turn left. Turn right onto the forest road and continue to the Col du Querty.
(8) (Elevation 833) At the pass, leave the forest road, turn left, 90°, due north, onto the path that descends. Cross a stream. Continue downhill on the steep, stony path. When you reach the first houses in Lepuix, turn right and you will arrive at the Demouge des Hauts-Fer sawmill and the car park where you started (S/E).
