Pass through the village of Isola towards Auron. Shortly after the campsite, take the bridge on the left which takes you across the river towards the Trérious waste collection centre. Walk past it and continue uphill as far as the tarmac allows. You’ll reach a wide lay-by where you can park easily.

(S/E) To start, take the path that continues from the road, turn right to cross the bridge and reach marker 32.
(1) Head off to the right towards Saint-Eurosie. Pass below the few houses on the left and go round them to find a small path that allows you to cross a stream quickly: watch out for sagging branches which could cause you to lose your balance.
A tough climb begins here. Whilst the walk itself isn’t technically difficult, this climb can prove very gruelling due to the elevation gain. Take your time and stop whenever you need to, taking the opportunity to admire the view towards Isola 2000. You’ll reach a T-junction.
(2) Turn left. Shortly afterwards, a small conifer blocks the path (as of February 2024); step over it and continue the climb along the tight hairpin bends. Depending on the season, take in the scent of thyme and/or chestnuts that have fallen to the ground, provided the wild boars haven’t already been there. Just after that, the scent of lavender takes over. You’ll come to a memorial erected in honour of the victims of the two world wars.
(3) Go round it to the right; the track behind it winds its way upwards. Resume a long climb to reach the foot of the first ruins, signalling that the end of the effort is near (though by no means the least demanding part).
(4) Go round them on the left before returning to the ridge, which you’ll stay on from then on (in winter, put on your snowshoes). Reach the Chapel of Sainte-Eurosie.
(5) You might treat yourself to a gentle ring of the bell, whose subtle and elegant chime blends perfectly with the surroundings. You may step inside with due respect and discretion, taking care to close the door properly behind you.
Behind the chapel, look out for marker 34, which points towards Pimia. Make the most of this first plateau on the walk, where there’s no shortage of spots for a picnic, with breathtaking views towards Isola 2000.
Then resume the slightly technical path (especially if you’re wearing snowshoes), which begins just below the only ruin that still has its roof. Cross the stream you’d already crossed at the start and carry on. Further on, go round a massive tree lying flat across the path on the right (February 2024). At the level of its top, look for a young tree marked in yellow to rejoin the path leading to a small meadow.
(6) Walk along the left-hand side of the meadow to find another young tree marking the start of a discreet, almost invisible path leading downwards. Follow it and you’ll soon reach the lovely clearing at the Pimia sheepfolds and marker 33.
(7) Follow the signs for “Trerious, D2205”. To do this, head towards the ruin closest to the ravine and its young tree, keeping them on your right as you continue. Once past the tree, look out for a boulder marked in yellow, and further along in line with it, a fine tree that is also marked. Pass between the tree and the ruin, then turn right immediately to reach the edge of the ravine. Follow the edge for a while down a winding path that is just as dizzying as the climb was. Much further down, step over a small fallen tree lying across the path (as of February 2024).
(8) At the T-junction, turn right to enjoy one or two more beautiful spots. You’ll come across marker 32.
(1) Turn right to cross the bridge again, then head back to the car park (S/E).
