L'Iton walks

A very pleasant unmarked route where you cross the Iton several times. It is also an opportunity to discover the former home of the Chilean poet Pablo Neruda and the beautiful Chambray Castle along the way.

Discover a multifaceted site located on the banks of a river where the lapping of its various branches reveals the remains of mills that were once very common here. The hillsides offer magnificent views of the Eure and Iton valleys. Explore the forest where some unusual inhabitants await you, whether animal or plant, such as certain trees with outstretched branches.

This hike is mainly in the woods and should be done in hot weather.

This is a short, varied route, where you will pass some beautiful Norman houses, an old church and a farmhouse inn dating from the 13th century. Half on tarmac, half on paths, this route is not very difficult, even if the hill leading to the D830 puts hikers' calves to the test!

Discover the small Norman town of Évreux along the banks of its river, the Iton, which is beautifully showcased in the town centre. The walk then takes you up to the heights, offering beautiful panoramic views of the town and the valley.

This walk will allow you to discover Acquigny’s rich heritage, the lapping of the water along the Becdal and the picturesque charm of the manor house beside it. You’re sure to come across a few animals along the way.

An easy walk around the village of Bonsmoulins, crossing the Iton and passing in front of the old station. Wear waterproof footwear in wet weather.

Recipe for a lovely walk: take a pinch of forest paths, sprinkle with a few stretches of a wild riverbank, and add a dash of culture and heritage. The result is the Maladrerie route, an ideal route for families. Short and easy, it winds through the hills and woods of Gravigny before returning to the town by following the River Iton to the Maladrerie Saint-Nicolas. The leprosarium is one of the few still in existence in Normandy. It is not open to visitors, but is listed on the register of Historic Monuments. In the12th century, the lepers themselves carried out the work in the fields and cared for the sick.

At the gateway to Normandy, Évreux is a city steeped in history and culture, surrounded by forests and charming valleys. A hike through the undergrowth, rivers and panoramic views of the Côte Valeme and Côte Blanche hillsides, then along the banks of the Iton with its old wash houses.

This circuit begins in the heart of the Senonches Forest on wide, easy-to-ride paths, starting from the Rond de Condé, followed by a passage through La Ferté-Vidame and its rich historical past.Don't miss Moussonvilliers and its washerwomen at work at the Ruisseau de Grenouille wash house.Afterwards, cross various waterways, each one different from the other, including the Rivière de Saint-Maurice, the Avre, the Iton, the Risle, the Cauche and the Sommaire, the most difficult to cross.
