Park in the car park at the Étang de Haute Jarrie.
The paths through the Haute-Jarrie Forest are well signposted with numerous information boards.
(S/E) Cross the road to enjoy the viewing points and educational panels at the Étang de Haute Jarrie. Start the circular route by walking along the pond and its reed beds. Head to the end of the pond and the dead-end road leading to Château-Neuf.
(1) Note that there are two options here:
- if the weather permits and the field on the left is neither cultivated nor occupied, you can cross it to rejoin the yellow-marked path; turn right onto this path to reach the Champ Courbat crossroads,
- otherwise, head back the way you came to reach thePR®® shortly after the car park; turn right onto it and continue to Champ Courbat.
(2) Here too, there are two options:
- either turn right to reach the Combe de la Gouderie crossroads directly,
- or continue straight ahead (this is the route taken), reaching a multi-way junction marked by the La Carrière sign.
(3) Gently make your way up the wide forest track that branches off to the right. You will soon reach the sign for La Traverse; continue straight on, ignoring the two paths branching off to the right and left respectively. You will reach the Frettes crossroads.
(4) Continue straight on, ignoring the paths branching off to the right and left. You will reach the Carrefour du Temple.
Note: to shorten the walk, you can turn right, which leads directly to the Combe de la Gouderie crossroads.
(5) Turn right and continue through the woods; at the La Chevauchée sign, keep left to reach the Combe de la Gouderie crossroads.
(6) Continue straight on until you reach the Plassoney sign; here, join the tarmac road that climbs up to the Haute Jarrie mast, which can be seen above the trees on the left.
Turn right to head back down towards the lake; on this stretch, enjoy a beautiful view of the Belledonne range to the left.
At the roundabout, turn right. Be careful as you walk alongside the C3 local road for a few metres, which can be busy, then head to the car park at the Haute-Jarrie pond (S/E).
