Description of the walk

Departure from the presbytery of Sainte-Thérèse Church.

(S/E) Turn right onto Rue Jean Stephan towards Avenue Lénine. Cross it and follow Rue du Bois du Château opposite the roundabout. Turn left at the next roundabout to cross over the Lorient slip road.

(1) After the bridge, turn right immediately to join Sentier des Vallons. Go straight ahead and cross the playground to continue on the path, shortly after turning right and passing near a new children's playground. Go down a few steps and cross a road.

(2) Continue straight ahead, still on the Sentier des Vallons. Go around the Kerulvé communal orchard. Continue in the same direction, passing close to the football pitches. Go through the gate on the right and then reach a road on the right after the changing rooms.

(3) Turn right onto the access road to the Manoir du Pouillot and walk alongside it.

(4) Just after the manor, turn right. Go straight down and cross the footbridge. Take the bridge over the expressway and enter the Kergavalan residential area.

(5) Follow the Kerdual road to the left, then, at the three-way junction, turn right into Rue Monier, which continues as a footpath. Continue straight down towards the water treatment plant.

(6) Go around it on the right, cross the access road and take the path on the left. Ignore the next path on the left and turn right twice to join the Sentier du Scave au Scorff. Follow it to the next fork.

(7) At the three-way junction, go down to the right and, after the small car park, follow the road for about 100 metres. At the barrier, turn right onto the path that goes uphill. Keep slightly to the right at the end of the field.

(8) Follow the road to the right, then take the path to the left at the rocks. Follow this path and at the three-way junction, turn right and join the Chemin des Fées. At the end, turn right into a street for a few metres, then turn right again into Rue du Vieux Moulin. Follow this street until the next path that branches off to the left at the bend.

(9) Take this path, then follow the road to the left, cross the bridge (expressway) and continue straight ahead.

(2) Take the path on the left at the start of the walk in the opposite direction to return to the presbytery of the Church of Sainte-Thérèse (S/E).

A pleasant walk very close to the town of Lorient.
After the water treatment plant, the instructions are not very clear between points 6 and 8. Many trees have been felled in the forest, which has caused a change in the route. Still a beautiful hike.

An easy route that takes two hours at a leisurely walking pace.
It's nice to be able to set off directly from Lorient and find yourself straight away on green paths and in woods. BIG drawbacks: you can hear the road very loudly for most of the route. When you get a little further away, you come to the sewage treatment plant, which has a really unpleasant smell. The wooded section after the treatment plant is the most pleasant, but it is very short compared to the 2-hour walk. A shame.
We did this walk after weeks of rain, so the paths were soggy and you need good footwear.
There is a large fallen tree trunk at the end of the route, which you have to climb over.

It is certainly worthwhile leaving the town of LORIENT and heading out into the countryside and woods along paths that are in good condition and accessible all year round.

Easy route. However, there are no signposts along the entire route. Follow part of paths 2 and 6. At the fork, go straight ahead through the orchard to reach the football pitches (3). Between points 7 and 8, take the small path on the right to follow and run alongside the road and arrive above the barrier. At point 8, leave the stony farm track and take the grassy path on the right below, reaching some houses after a 5-minute walk at the bottom of Rue du Chemin des Fées in Kerdual.
The Visorando description and map are essential. Tracking the waypoints allows us to better follow our progress. Total walking time: 2 hours 15 minutes.

A pleasant hike starting from Lorient, which passes along trails and through woods, with almost no tarmac, very enjoyable! Takes 2 hours, though!
