Circular via the Sentier des Roches and Hohneck
One of the most beautiful hikes in the Vosges mountains, taking the legendary Sentier des Roches trail at its start to reach the summit of Hohneck at an altitude of 1,363 metres.
N.B. The Sentier des Roches is closed in winter. See practical information below.
Lakes and glacial cirques around Kastelberg
The gentle, rounded shapes of the Vosges mountains sometimes conceal the harsh and authentic remains of the Ice Age: rocky chaos, turbulent streams, scree, lakes and cliffs.
This hike follows paths that are sometimes difficult but well secured, and the wild beauty of the glacial cirques around Kastelberg is well worth the effort. However, it should be avoided in winter. Good footwear is essential.
Altenweiher and Fischboedle lakes from Mittlach
A very beautiful hike through the woods and along magnificent trails, enhanced by breathtaking panoramic views, particularly at the summit of Kerbholtz.
Hohneck - Three Lakes - Frankenthal - Col de Falimont - Le Hohneck
This challenging route takes you through several typical areas, sometimes in the forest, sometimes across rocky terrain and sometimes across moorland. Each difficult section is followed by a section that allows you to recover.
This route is not accessible in winter. The route is closed between (14) and (18) from 1 November to 30 April 2022 (Prefectural Order of 18 May 2022).
From Hohneck to three lakes via Sapin de Kolben
On the agenda: a full day of breathtaking views!
Starting from the summit of Hohneck, this hike will take you to a less frequented slope to the east of the Col du Rothenbach. This will lead you to the Sapin de Kolben and the chapel, before discovering the three lakes: Altenweiher, Fischboedle and Schiessrothried. Finally, return to the summit via the Col de Schaeferthal.
This hike is classified as very difficult: see the Practical Information section.
A loop around Kastelberg via Wormsawald
This varied and challenging loop, winding its way through the stubble fields and forests of the Vosges, offers beautiful views of the lakes and Alsace on one side and Lorraine on the other. You may even be lucky enough to spot some chamois. Some difficult sections are reminiscent of the Sentier des Roches.
06/02/2023: Hiking prohibited until further notice by municipal decree due to rock and stone falls on theGR®®531.
Hohneck - Schiessrothried - Fischboedle - Kastelberg
This hike allows you to discover one of the most beautiful regions of the Vosges, in particular the two lakes of Schiessrothried and Fischboedle. It is classified as moderate, but it can be difficult due to some rocky and steep paths and a significant elevation gain.
Altenweiher Lake via Kerbholtz
Ascent to Kerbholz from Mittlach via the Koepfle Trail. Beautiful view of Hohneck from the Kerbholz Refuge. From there, you reach Lake Altenweiher through a beautiful forest. The lake, surrounded by greenery, is ideal for a break. Then descend to Mittlach via Sapin de Kolben and the Kolbenfecht valley.
