Park near the inn at the foot of the Hohneck or the Paquis on the Route des Crêtes.
(S/E) Start the climb on the paved road that goes up to the summit for a few dozen metres and quickly turn right onto the Anneau Bleu trail until you reach the inn at the top of Hohneck.
(2) Turn right onto the GR®5 marked with a red rectangle for a long descent to the first lake. Pass through the Schiessroth thatched hut and reach the Schiessroth farmhouse inn.
(3) Turn right and head into the forest. A zigzag path leads to the Lac du Schiessrothried. A sign provides information about this dam.
(4) Cross the dam and, at the end, turn onto the path on the left and descend towards the second lake, along the stream, still on the GR®5 Rectangle Rouge. Admire the rock scree on the north side of the lake and then the lake on your right. Head towards the footbridge.
(5) Immediately after, turn left to reach the forest road marked with a blue cross. After about 150 m, start climbing on the right on a rocky path, described as "difficult", which ends at a crossroads. (An alternative route, marked with a blue cross, which is easier but longer, is suggested by signs on site.)
(6) Continue straight ahead towards Kerbholtz, stay on the Blue Cross trail until you reach the Kerbholz hut and its viewpoint over the rocky ridge of the Spitzkoepfe.
(7) To the right of a refuge, continue climbing until you reach the Kastelberg farmhouse inn, following a path marked with a blue rectangle (GR®531).
(8) Continue climbing to the right on the path marked with a yellow cross until you reach a crossroads (IGN elevation 1309). Turn right to enjoy the view of the Spitzkoepfe rocks.
(9) Return to the previous junction and take the yellow cross trail on the right to finish the hike and return to the car park (S/E).
