Park after the church, at the end of Rue de Condé, car park on the left.
(S/E) Head for the canal and cross it by the bridge (yellow markings). Ignore the perpendicular paths and go straight on to the Saône.
(1) At the junction, turn right onto the towpath with the campsite on your right. Continue along this path for about 800m, then turn right onto the path that brings you closer to the canal.
(2) At the end of this 400m straight stretch, either climb the small hillock and take the shaded path on the left along the canal, or follow the path that turns left below the shaded path (this is to be avoided in bright sunshine).
(3) At the end of the straight stretch on the shaded path, join the sunny path on the right, 10m below, and follow it. It turns right to span the canal; either go through the lock, but take care, or go over the footbridge. Nice view of the mouth of the Marne et Saône canals and the lock-keeper's house.
At the end of the footbridge, take the road to the right, then 20m further on, turn right down a good path that bends to the left to run alongside the canal. Continue straight ahead until you reach the footbridge.
(4) Turn right and cross the canal, with the wastewater treatment plant on your right. Take a wide, stony track which bends to the left and joins the D25d.
(5) Turn left without crossing it (for safety reasons), then 20m further on, cross it carefully to take a wide track immediately to the right, which you should follow for about 700m. This bends slightly to the right and joins the D25.
(6) At the D25, same as above: for safety reasons, do not cross the road, but walk facing the traffic for 400m, then cross over and turn right onto a good farm track.
(7) Continue for approx. 150m, then turn right onto a gravel track parallel to the D25 and follow it straight on to Heuilley-sur-Saône.
(8) In Heuilley, take the 1st street on the left (Rue Haute and Chemin de la Cognée), as far as the Croix Saint-Jacques. Continue straight ahead, behind the cross, on a track which bends right at a right angle and joins the D25. Turn right and follow this road all the way to the Saône.
(9) Cross the Pont des Portes de Garde, pass behind the lock-keeper's house. On the banks of the Saône, enjoy the view of the two dams. Follow the dirt track along the Saône.
(1) Turn right to cross the canal again and reach the car park after the bridge (S/E).
