Grand Corent - Chevanel

(D) Set off from the campsite heading south-west. Leave the village of Grand-Corent and continue along the Route de Hautecourt.
(1) After about 4 km on this road, turn left onto a path leading down towards Soiriat, then arrive at Hautecourt-Romanèche.
(2) Turn right onto Rue des Bozons. Cross the Route de Nantua with care and continue opposite onto the Chemin de la Croix Rozier. Follow the GR® de Pays Tour du Revermont signposts. Pass the cemetery on your left, then continue south-west along the signposted path to reach the junction at Donjon de Buenc.
(3) Continue to the left.
(4) Ignore the path on the left leading to the D59 and turn right.
(5) At the entrance to the hamlet of Chiloup, turn left towards the south and head for the hamlet of Charinaz le Haut.
(6) Cross the main road and head straight ahead. At the junction, turn left towards Bas Charinaz and continue to the second junction.
(7) Head left onto the road called Pré Chailly, then continue southwards following the GRP® signposts.
(8) At the crossroads, let the GRP® head off to the right and follow the PR® (yellow markings) southwards towards Anturieux. Cross the village via the Chemin de la Croix to the cross at the Y-junction.
(9) Keep left, passing in front of the small chapel. Cross the D59 carefully and continue straight ahead along the path through the woods, which eventually leads onto the D81. Turn right and follow the road for about 100 metres.
(10) At the hamlet known as Le Dernier Col, on the D81, pass under the power lines and turn immediately right. Continue along the path through the woods (yellow markings), ignoring the other paths on either side. Walk for about 2 km.
(11) At the crossroads, continue right onto the GRP® then left 500 m further on towards Neuville-sur-Ain.
(12) Go under the A40 motorway, turn right to follow it. Take the left-hand bend and go straight on until you reach the junction with Rue de la Ville.
(13) Turn left, continue straight on Rue Nicolas Aubry and stay on this road until you reach the Au Faisan Doré hotel and restaurant.
(14) At the junction, continue straight on along Rue du Docteur Hubert; a little further on, you will find a supermarket where you can stock up on supplies (Intermarché, approx. 500 m away).
(15) Retrace your steps back to the bridge.
(14) Cross the bridge and continue along Rue des Tilleuls to the large crossroads. Cross at the pedestrian crossing, then turn right to follow the A-road for a good hundred metres.
(16) Turn left onto the path that forms part of the GR®59 and the GRP® de la Vallée de l'Ain. After a gentle 2.4 km climb, at the castle, turn left to reach the hamlet of Chenavel and look for a place to camp (A).

No drinking water points along the route. Find a spot for wild camping. Stock up at the Intermarché in Neuville-sur-Ain at (15).
