The trail starts from a car park located south-west of Bolozon church, about 80 metres away (signs are visible).
(S/E) Turn left towards the town hall, then take the path to the right of the church (Chemin du Ruisseau) down towards the river.
(1) At the crossroads, turn left, then right (towards Balvay).
A little further on, turn left into the field (towards Balvay). Depending on the height of the grass and how busy it is, it may be difficult to find the track: aim almost straight ahead towards the copse, bearing slightly left to find the path. The trail is more visible at this point, then continue straight ahead across thesecond field, heading towards the forest straight ahead: head towards the gate and the sign marking the start of the trail. If in doubt, don't hesitate to use the Visorando app in GPS mode.
(2) The trail climbs steadily but not excessively to reach Balvay via the bottom of a small valley.
(3) On the outskirts of the hamlet of Balvay, turn right towards Mont Balvay.
(4) A few minutes later, you will arrive at Mont Balvay, where you can enjoy beautiful views of the Ain valley. Some traces of the ruins of Balvay Castle are also visible. Then retrace your steps back to Balvay.
(3) Cross the village and, on leaving it, take a path on the left towards Solomiat.
(5) At the entrance to Solomiat, turn right to see the Sainte-Marie-Madeleine Chapel surrounded by its cemetery.
Cross the hamlet of Solomiat, then turn left a little further on. The path follows a plateau route through large meadows for a few minutes. Do not follow the fork to the right as indicated by a sign. At the end of the path, continue straight ahead, keeping to the left of a grove of trees (this section is a little difficult).
Once you reach the forest, take a path downhill towards a waterfall, continuing uphill at the bottom of a small valley towards Napt (you will come to a fork shortly before).
(6) Once you reach the village, turn right then left towards the church (note its slate roof). Leave the village, keep the road on your right and continue along the Route de Bolozon (little traffic); do not take thefirst fork on the left as this road returns to Napt.
(7) At thesecond fork, take the small road on the right towards the Chapelle des Chasseurs.
(8) After spending a few moments at the Chapelle Notre-Dame de l'Étoile (also known as the Chapelle des Chasseurs), retrace your steps back to the fork.
(7) Take the road on the right towards Bolozon.
(9) After about 400 metres, take the path on the right indicated by a sign (towards Bolozon). A little further down, rejoin the road and cross it to take another path opposite.
(10) Quite quickly, pass under the RFF railway line (please note that access to the track is prohibited even if there are no signs indicating this), then join a small road and turn right downhill.
(11) Once at the fork, take the path on the right as indicated by the signposts.
You will soon arrive at the village of Bolozon, which you should cross to return to the starting point (S/E).
