The hike starts from the car park above Baudinard-sur-Verdon, which is the car park for the village hall.
(S/E) Start at the end of the car park and head up towards the Notre-Dame de la Garde chapel, where you will find yourself on a long, straight path
(1) Follow the marked trail on the left and you will quickly enter a shady oak forest. The trail descends slightly. Follow the markings until you come out onto a lavender field along the D71 road. Cross the road to reach the Domaine des Éouvières car park, where you will find a hut and charcoal kilns.
(2) Take trail No. 1 (Sentier des Charbonniers), which starts on the right as you arrive at the car park, running alongside the road. The trail leads to a viewpoint overlooking Lake Sainte-Croix, the dam and the upper reaches of the gorges. Shortly afterwards, the trail climbs into a valley where it joins the GRP®.
(3) Turn right to join the balcony trail that runs alongside and overlooks the Baudinard Gorges.
(4) From the viewpoint, continue along the gorges to Lac de Montpezat.
(5) Descend to the right to reach the edge of the lake.
(6) From the lake shore, retrace your steps uphill. The path will quickly widen onto a DFCI track, which runs through heath and therefore has very little shade.
(7) Continue straight ahead, keeping to the left, and continue climbing this wide track until you return to the Domaine des Éouvières car park.
(2) Cross the road and leave the lavender field, heading north into the oak forest. The path to follow is the first one marked in green on the first tree. The trail climbs, offering views of the Baudinard Gorges, before emerging opposite Lake Sainte-Croix. Continue climbing while enjoying the views of the lake.
(8) At the junction with theGR® trail, continue straight ahead towards the chapel. After enjoying the panorama and the orientation table, return to the fork in the path you took on the way there.
(1) Continue straight ahead to return to the car park.
(S/E) From the car park, descend to Baudinard-sur-Verdon to explore the pretty village and return to the car park (S/E) via the meagre ruins of a feudal castle tower.
