There is no elevation gain on this walk in the Briçois region. Walkers will notice, in several places, that the fields are separated by a double row of trees, between which the path runs.

Description of the walk

Park at Le Pigeon Blanc: the roundabout with the D155. Choose the left-hand side rather than the car park on the right, which is specifically reserved for EDF staff.

(S/E) Leave the car park by taking the road on the left (leaving the roundabout behind you). Continue on the left, heading north-west, ignoring a road on the right.
At the end of the road, turn left. Pass a farm entrance on your right, then turn right onto the next road.

(1) At a bend to the right in the road, carry on straight ahead along the left-hand track. Follow this track, heading north-west, until it joins a road.

(2) Follow this road to the left. Continue along it as it turns south. Cross the Coudre.

(3) Turn right onto the path running alongside the field, heading west. Carry on until you reach the road.
Carry on westwards until you reach the end of this road. Turn left and join the D155.
Caution: dangerous crossing
Carry on along the road opposite.

(4) Turn left onto the path and you’ll come to a small pond on your left.
After the pond, continue along the path and, just before reaching some ruined buildings, turn right onto a small country lane. Follow it to the right. After about 300 m, a typical ‘gatekeeper’s’ house marks the start of the Greenway; turn right onto the Greenway. Continue along the Greenway.

(5) Turn right and follow the Voie Verte. It will cross two small country lanes.

(6) A few hundred metres after thesecond road crossing, turn onto a path on the left which, continuing to the left, crosses a stream via a small wooden bridge. Cross this small wooden bridge. The path leads onto a country lane; follow it to the right for 200 m.

(7) Turn onto the path on the left and continue along it towards the south-east.

(8) Keep to the right. Cross the D211 local road and continue along the path opposite.
At the crossroads, take the path furthest to the right.

(9) Walk alongside the Douétel stream on your right, then turn left immediately afterwards.
Carry on along this path heading north-east.

(10) Ignore the path on the right and carry on straight ahead. You’ll rejoin the D211, which you should follow to the right for almost 100 metres.
Turn left before the houses and join the Voie Verte.

(11) Turn right to follow the Voie Verte eastwards. Cross a road and continue along the Voie Verte, keeping slightly to the right.

(12) When you reach the Bas Croisé farm, leave the Voie Verte by turning left and head due north.
The path runs alongside the D155 on your right, bypasses the roundabout and allows you to cross the main road with great care.
Then turn left to reach the car park (S/E).

We particularly enjoyed the area along the Douetel – it’s a magnificent spot with some lovely walks; I’d highly recommend it.
