Description of the walk

The walk starts at the car park of the Priory of Carluc.

(S/E) Take theGR®4heading north. The path starts on the left-hand side of the road leading towards Reillanne.

(1) After 500 m, you’ll reach a junction; turn right onto the Chemin de Saint-Jacques towards Reillanne. Continue along this path for about 1.5 km until you reach a junction with a forest track.

(2) Take a sharp right-hand bend to join the track climbing towards the ridge. Climb for about 500 m, then turn left and, again left 100 m further on, continuing to follow the Chemin de Saint-Jacques as it winds along the ridge of the hill. Follow this path until you reach a road.

(3) Turn left to begin the descent into the valley. You will see several tracks branching off to the right in succession: be sure to stay on the track furthest to the left, which descends quite steeply. Continue down until you reach a riverbed crossing where you will see an old metal bridge. Cross the riverbed and start climbing back up until you reach the ruins of an old building, the Bastide Noble.

(4) At the ruins, turn left onto the road and continue along this road for about 800 m until you reach a junction with another road, where you rejoin theGR®4® route.

(5) Take the road on the left that descends back down to the bottom of the valley and continue to a junction.

(6) Head for the track on the left, almost directly opposite, which climbs up the mountain. Continue climbing this track until you reach a pass. Cross the pass and begin the descent towards the priory.

(7) Pass the turn-off for La Pourraque on your left and continue straight ahead.

(8) Follow theGR®4route by taking the path that branches off to the left of the road and heads into the forest. Continue along this path until you rejoin the one you took at the start of the route.

(1) This time, follow it southwards until you reach the Priory of Carluc (S/E).

There is no signposting at point 2, even though the explanation is sufficient. However, between the ridge and the iron bridge, you must turn right to descend to the bridge (wide, steep and rutted path).

A lovely route offering some beautiful views as well as a visit to the priory site.
Please note, however, that since the last comment, bad weather has severely eroded the track for about 500 metres before point 4. As this route is rarely used, vegetation has also obscured part of the route 500 metres after point 2: don’t hesitate to take the path covered by vegetation on the left to follow the route!

Between the ridge and the iron bridge beneath the noble bastide, the sign advises you to head downhill, avoiding all the paths on the right.
We did so and found ourselves near the small lake...
It would probably be a good idea to give clearer directions on how to reach the bridge.
Kind regards
