The hike starts from a car park located 800 m after Roquefort-la-Bédoule on the road to La Ciotat, just after a hairpin bend, about 400 m from Pas d'Ouillier.
(S/E) The hike begins by taking an uphill concrete track located at this hairpin bend, heading straight east. Stay on this track for three short kilometres, admiring the unusually shaped rocks on the left and the view of the Roquefort valley. You will reach a track that supports theGR® 51.
(1) Turn right immediately onto this track and begin to admire the beautiful views of La Ciotat. Walk for 1.2 kilometres, passing the Cabanon des Gardes, a sort of refuge available to hikers when it is not occupied by "officials".
(2) Turn left onto a downhill track that will take you along the Vallon de Gendame, where you can admire some beautiful views of the rocks and ridges overlooking the valley. There is also a beautiful panorama of La Ciotat Bay, Cap Sicié in the distance on the left and the mountains of the Toulon hinterland.
(3) After 2 km of descent, turn right onto a path (GR®) and follow it, ignoring a trailhead on the right after 200 m.
(4) Continue to follow the GR® onthe right. You will then climb up a small valley, unfortunately without a name, keeping to the left 200 m further on. It is a sometimes quite steep climb that will take you to a ridge.
(5) Continue on the right to rejoin theGR®51-98250 m further on.
(6). Turn right for 50 metres to find the start of a path on the left. Descend a scree slope, which is best avoided on a rainy day as we did, but this handy shortcut allows you to quickly return to the starting track.
Then simply turn left to return to the road and the starting car park (S/E).
