From the Belvédère des Deux Lacs to the meadows of Remoray

This walk starts at the superb viewpoint overlooking the two lakes of Saint-Point and Remoray. It then alternates between alpine meadows and spruce forests between Le Brey, Bougeons and Remoray. It thus offers an excellent overview of the Jura landscapes.

Description of the walk

Park at the Belvédère des Deux Lacs car park by taking the Route Forestière Marcel Goux (to the right of the D46) for about 300 m. A shaded parking area with a picnic table is on the left.

(S/E) Take the path that climbs for 200 m to the viewpoint. Enjoy the stunning view over the valley.

(1) Turn your back on the viewpoint and head south towards Le Brey. The path becomes a track climbing into the Forêt des Buclés before gently descending towards Le Brey. Overlooking Le Brey, you’ll come to the Route des Bretilles.

(2) Take it on the right, heading towards Boujeons. To the west, you’ll cross several paths for hikers and mountain bikers through large alpine meadows. You’ll come to a small road on the edge of the Brey-et-Maison-du-Bois Forest.

(3) Continue to your right along a track that crosses the village of Brey-Maison-du-Bois and joins the Route Forestière Marcel Goux.

(4) Cross it and continue straight on. The track soon becomes a path, winding north-westwards between woods and meadows before approaching Remoray-Boujeons. You’ll come to a small road.

(5) Follow it to the right, taking a wide circular loop to the right and then to the left, before crossing the Ruisseau de la Taveme on your right via the Chemin des Clos. Enter the village and cross the Grande Rue (D46) with care.

(6) Just after the sign marking the exit from the village of Remoray-Boujeons, take the small uphill road on your left (residents’ access only), which becomes a track suitable for vehicles after a farm. This track winds in wide circular loops through meadows, offering you a fine view of the Mont d’Or. Join the D46.

(7) Enter the village of Remoray, cross it on the left, passing the large village fountain. 100 m further on, turn right onto Rue des Saules, going round an abandoned football pitch.

(8) Leave the village on your right opposite a large Franche-Comté-style house. This road passes a livestock farm before gently descending southwards.

(9) After crossing the Drésine, leave the road via a small path on your right which climbs into the forest to reach, further on, the junction for the Belvédère des Deux Lacs. Walk up Route Marcel Goux for 200 m before taking a very steep path on your left which leads you to the viewpoint. Take a final look at the view, which may differ from the one at the start depending on the light and the weather.

(1) Retrace your steps to return to the car park (S/E).

A pleasant hike, the climb to the viewpoint is certainly steep but short, and not so much if you take it slowly.

A lovely walk with a beautiful view of Lake Remoray right from the start. The signposting is adequate. There aren’t enough rest areas along the route. This is often the case on walks in France. Otherwise, nothing to report.
Not a busy trail, but the weather wasn’t really up to it!!
