Dourdou de Camarès (rivière) walks
Col des Saints route
A very beautiful hike where you will find a dolmen and a menhir statue, flower-lined paths, and views of the Murat countryside, Camarès and the slopes of Espinouse.
Part of this route follows the ancient Roman road which became the Via Tolosana in the Middle Ages, the route from Arles to Santiago de Compostela.
The Château de Saint-Izaire trail
In the heart of the Rougier de Camarès and crossed by the Dourdou, the medieval village of Saint-Izaire welcomes us with its imposing suspension bridge, its red sandstone church and its 14th-century castle (former residence of the bishops of Vabres l'Abbaye). You will be charmed by this delightful village, where the sun gives the red stone facades a flamboyant appearance.
Circular route from Camarès to Les Pradels starting from the lake
If you love the countryside, beautiful views, discovering unusual sites, walking up and down hills; in short, breathing in the fresh air and enjoying the peace and quiet, this hike is sure to satisfy you.
Maliver Route
At the summit of Maliver (alt. 901m), there is a stunning viewpoint and an information board about the Haut Dourdou valley.
This route can be combined with the Dent de Saint-Jean route.
Circular walk in Camarès via the lake, La Garde and the Roman road
A walk suitable for everyone despite its 120-metre elevation gain. Along the route you will discover the Camarès water sports centre (in the summer season), its old streets leading up to the ancient castle, its monumental Virgin Mary statue, and its panoramic views of the village and the surrounding countryside.
Circular Campels loop via Verrières
This walk, with little change in altitude, offers a lesser-known side to the Rougier de Camarès canyons. It is a journey into the world of sheep and the farmers who work to supply milk to the cheese dairies.
Walk between Dourdou and historic Camarès
Pleasant walk starting from the centre of Camarès (you can also start from the leisure centre car park) along the Dourdou river, passing through Camarès "Ville haute" (upper town), the ruins of the old fortified town, the castle currently being restored, the rose garden, and enjoy the panoramic view from the old bell tower.
