Description of the walk

Park in the Bazarland car park, situated on the right-hand side of the D999 as you leave Saint-Affrique heading towards Vabres-l’Abbaye.

(S/E) Leave the car park on the right and walk along the pavement beside the departmental road. Continue until you reach the start of a small road on the left, marked by the Vaxergues sign and the ‘No vehicles over 6 t’ sign. Cross very carefully as there is no pedestrian crossing, and follow this road, which passes under the old railway line (now a greenway) and leads onto the Chemin du Bois de Boulogne. Turn right onto it to follow the Voie Verte until you reach the junction on the right where you can join it.

(1) Turn left to follow the Chemin du Bois de Boulogne, which runs parallel to the D999 for some distance before joining it.

(2) Turn right onto it for a few metres, then cross it very carefullyto rejoin the Voie Verte opposite, which curves sharply to the left. Follow this path alongside the retail park until you reach the Bourguet roundabout.

(3) Go round it on the right, continue along Chemin des Palmiers until you reach the end of the business park. When you reach the junction with Chemin des Mûriers, turn right to follow the path which passes under the D999 and leads onto Avenue du Dourdou.

(4) Take the pavement on the right to walk along this long avenue. Cross at the pedestrian crossing before the bridge over the Dourdou to enter Vabres-l’Abbaye via Rue du Quai. Then turn left onto Rue du Four to reach Saint-Sauveur Cathedral.

(5) Follow the outbound route in the opposite direction to return to the car park (S/E).
