Description of the walk

(S) From Vizzavona station, go up the road, pass the chapel, then just after the small bridge, turn right onto the path that climbs up and joins the road, which you must cross and take to the left.

(1) TheGR® continues to the right along a forest track that winds uphill for several kilometres. After each forest track junction, check that you are on theGR® route, as the forest is criss-crossed with tracks.
The trail then continues to climb through the forest before joining the Foce di Vizzavona variant.
Continue on theGR® to reach Bocca Palmente (1640m).

(2) The trail crosses to the other side and, after a short descent, continues along the contour line before reaching the Bergeries d'Alzeta.

(3) Pass the sheepfolds and continue on the path, which remains level, crosses a ridge and several streams, and arrives at the Bergeries d'E Scarpaceghje.

(4) Continue along this contour line, cross a stream and then climb up a short series of switchbacks through the forest. The path is quite steep at this point. After this climb, head left to reach a winding road, follow this road for a few dozen metres uphill, then after crossing it, descend slightly along the path that will take you to the Refuge d'E Capannelle (E).

Notes

The E Capannelle refuge has a small terrace where you can rest and refresh yourself. The camping area is smaller than at the other refuges we encountered.

It's just that the calculation methods are slightly different from one site to another. The grid used to determine altitudes is not necessarily the same, and may be more or less accurate.
Looking at it visually, I see 1,100 metres of elevation gain, but I haven't checked the elevation loss. And that's just a rough estimate...

Hello,

I have a question about D+ and D-. When I simulate on OpenRunner, I get 931 and 291, which is radically different from what you show. Maps simulates it at 1091 and 414, which is also quite different, even though the routes seem to be exactly the same. As for the le-gr20 website, it gives 900 and 224.

How can there be so many differences between each source? I'm just trying to understand :-)

Thank you :-)

This stage is very different from the northern part we just left behind when we passed through Vizzavona. The landscape changes a lot, with more forest passages...
That day we had a minor accident: an Englishman took a nasty fall into a stream and we had to intervene and call the rescue helicopter. As a result, there are slightly fewer photos from that day.
