Departure from Vizzavona station.
(S/E) Walk up the road for a few dozen metres.
(1) Leave the Vizzavona bivouac on your right and continue tothe GR®20(large wooden sign).
(2) Turn left towardsGR®20South. The entire climb follows theGR®20trail, marked in white/red. Cross the N193 road and keep to theGR®20on the left in a sharp bend. You will reach a point where theGR® leaves the track.
(3) Leave the track and take a path that climbs to the left (marked in white/red). A steady and pleasant climb through the forest. The path zigzags a little, but the markings are dense and it is impossible to go wrong. You will reach the junction ofthe GR® and the Col de Vizzavona path.
(4) Take the hairpin bend to the left onto theGR® trail (white/red markings). You will come to the edge of the forest.
(5) Follow the path, which is level at first, then quickly climbs up to the right towards the pass above. The white/red markings are less visible than before. You will arrive at the Ochju Piattu fountain, which is clear and abundant (mid-July 2018).
(6) Pass the fountain and continue to the left to reach the Col de Bocca Palmente. View of the Aléria plain and the Diana and Urbino ponds to the east; on a clear day, you can see the island of Elba in the distance. View of Monte d'Oro to the west.
(7) Descend via the same path to the Col de Vizzavona crossroads, following the white/red markings.
(4) Continue straight ahead, following the signs for "Col de Vizzavona", between plot numbers 104 and 105. From here, follow the yellow circles.
(8) Cross the Sentier de la Femme Perdue trail. Do not go straight ahead, but turn right at a right angle (signposted "Gare de Vizzavona", plot no. 43). Marked with yellow circles.
(9) Be careful here: misleading crossroads. Ignore the sign for "Col de Vizzavona" on the left and "GR®20" where you came from, and continue straight ahead. Marked with yellow circles, but be careful, the path on the left also has old yellow markings.
(10) Three times, the path crosses a wide forest road. Each time, cross it and continue in the same direction until you reach a cairn that indicates the continuation of the path.
(11) Above the RN193 road, the path comes to a forest house. Go around it on the left. Cross the road and go down to the right until you reach the bend opposite the forest house. A path (not marked) branches off to the left, slightly steep, and leads to Vizzavona station, the starting point (S/E).
