Description of the walk

Park near the church or the church wash house, the starting point of the walk.

(S/E) Walk down behind the wash house via Rue de l’Église and take the first street on your right.

(1) Turn right onto the white track towards Montormentier and follow the yellow markings. Cross the D28E to reach the Fontaine du Buet on the left and continue down this path.

(2) Follow the grassy path lined on both sides with young trees, entering the small wood. At the road, continue to the right for about 100m.

(3) Continue left and enter Montormentier via Rue de la Picarde; at the end of this street, turn right for about 100m.

(4) Leave the yellow markings and turn onto the dirt track that descends to the left towards Percey. Cross the D30 and continue right onto the D320. Enter Parcey sous Montormentier and continue to the canal.

(5) Before crossing the canal, take the C4 on the right towards Courchamp for about 200m.

(6) After passing a farm building, join the towpath on your left and follow it to the Romagne lock ((7) where it joins the Vingeanne).

(8) At the lock, cross the D30 and leave the towpath to take a parallel road marked in yellow until you reach a slight incline.

(9) At the junction, turn right towards Montormentier / Sacquenay.

(10) When you reach Combe Saint-Martin, continue straight on towards the Bois de Saint-Maurice and enter the woods. Follow the signs for Sacquenay, leaving the Montormentier path on your right. At the edge of the woods, turn right, cross the D27e and continue along the path opposite, which will take you back to Sacquenay.

(11) At the Sacquenay silo, turn right onto the D27a and head up to Place de la Fontaine.

(12) At the fountain, head down Rue de la Maladière to the left for about 150m until you reach a house on your right with a slate roof.

(13) Turn right, follow Rue de Pidance to the Fontaine de Pidance and then take the small street on the right leading to Rue de la Cras.

(14) Follow this street to the right for 20 metres and go down the path on the left. At the end, turn right and, when you reach the Fontaine de Cour, continue along the street on the left which will take you to the church and then to the wash house (S/E).

A lovely walk through the countryside. The last bit was a bit long along the path between the fields (but that’s the countryside for you...).
The restored fountains are interesting.
You might want to suggest a short detour to La Romagne and its lovely castle (+ 1 km return).

Thank you for this route.
