From La Vonne to Bois Pouvreau to Ménigoute

The starting point is in the car park behind the church, Place des Cloîtres.

(S/E) From the car park, head east and join Rue de la Trésorerie until you reach the junction with the D21. Turn right, walk past the town hall and the cemetery and continue to Chemin de l'Ancienne Ligne. Turn right, walk past the waste collection centre and continue to the junction with Chemin de la Martinière

(1) Turn left and then immediately left again. At the next junction, turn right until you reach the next junction.

(2) Turn left onto the photo exhibition path until you reach the Sanxay road (D21). Cross it carefully and take the path opposite (slightly to the left). Go down the sloping path and continue to the ruins.

(3) Take the path on the right that runs alongside the Ruisseau de l'Étang stream. At the road (D21), turn left until you reach the crossroads.

(4) Turn right onto the D21, entering the Vienne department.

(5) Cross the bridge over the Vonne at the Pouvreau mill. Shortly afterwards, in the left-hand bend of the D21, turn right onto the small road towards Maison Neuve for 100 m.

(6) At the bend in this road, take the narrow path to the La Croix Barrée crossroads (back in Deux-Sèvres) and join the^GR®®364.

(7) Follow it to the right for about 700 m until you reach the second path on the right.

(8) Continue right on the^GR®®. Join the road opposite Château de la Brouinière. Continue along this road, cross the D521, then another road to finally reach the D58.

(9) Leave the^GR®®364and turn left to carefully follow the road. Cross the Ruisseau de la Parlière and reach the access road to the Donjon restaurant.

(10) Turn right onto the white path to the mini golf course. Look for the footbridge on the right that crosses the Étang de Bois Pouvreau pond and cross it. On the other side, rejoin the^GR®®364. Turn right and walk along the sheepfold. At the next crossroads, turn left and stay on the^GR®® until it turns right.

(11) Continue along the small road until you reach the Aumônerie. Then take the small road that descends to the left until you reach the junction, just before the mill.

(12) Take the path on the right and cross La Vonne via the footbridge. Cross the meadow and reach the Villa des Rochers path, which climbs back up towards the village until you reach the junction with Rue de la Rousselinière.

(13) Turn right then left onto Rue de la Fontaine. Cross Rue de Saint-Maixent and return to the starting point (S/E).

The hike is not particularly difficult, but it is advisable to wear waterproof footwear, especially in winter when some sections can be very wet.
At the starting point opposite the town hall, there is a charging station for electric car users.
There are also toilets, a grocery store, a bar/restaurant, a bakery and even a pharmacy on site.
In Bois Pouvreau, there is a restaurant (check opening hours), picnic tables and a mini-golf course. You can also go fishing (fishing permits are available from the machine next to the sheepfold).

During the hike, on sunny days, you will come across a photo exhibition entitled "From Bears to Weasels" at the start of the trail. You will also see the Moulin de Pouvreau mill, the Croix Barrée cross, and the châteaux of La Brouinière and Montifault. Finally, you will cross the Étang de Bois Pouvreau, a leisure site with a restaurant, and finish at the footbridge that crosses the Vonne river.
