Description of the walk

Park in the car park of Jazeneuil church or another car park about a hundred metres further up.

(S/E) With your back to the church entrance, go up Rue Saint-Jean-Baptiste and, at the first crossroads, continue towards Curzay for about 100 metres.

(1) Turn onto this small road on the left and continue. After the left-hand bend and the last house, turn right and then right again onto a path.

(2) At the edge of the woods, turn right onto the path along the edge of the woods and continue to the small road.

(3) Turn left, pass Jarnezay and follow this road along the edge of the Vonne river and pass under the motorway.

(4) After the bridge, continue along the road and pass the Pont Barrot bridge. Go uphill and, after a right-hand bend, you will reach the Château de Curzay.

(5) Continue straight ahead on the road and, after about 500 m, take thefirst road on the right. Go straight ahead and you will rejoin the tarmac road. Cross Rue du Châtaignier and you will reach the cemetery of Curzay-sur-Vonne.

(6) At the stop sign, turn right and cross the small stone bridge over the Vonne. Continue straight ahead on Route de la Cueille and after a little over 50 m, turn right onto the uphill street. Just before the buildings in the hamlet, take the grassy path on the left under the trees until you reach a road. After the woods, note the Château de Curzay on your right.

(7) Leave the path and take the road on the left. Ignore theGR®® which branches off to the right in front of the sheds.

(8) At the next intersection, turn right onto a small road. Cross the hamlet of Villiers and ignore a road on the right. Pass under the motorway and continue along the small road.

(9) Before the gorse, take the small road on the right towards La Barre. You will arrive at the castle gate.

(10) Then turn onto the path going downhill to the left. Follow this path for a long time under the trees, running alongside the Vonne.

(11) At the end, follow a small road on the right. At the crossroads that immediately appears, turn right to cross the Vonne again. Turn right with the road and return to the church car park (S/E).

Thanks for your comment. Yes, I'll have to redo it, as the path after point 4 was already quite overgrown, to update the description.

A pleasant hike. At number 4 after the bridge, continue along the road parallel to the grassy path, which is now private, until you reach the Barrot bridge. The Château de Cursay is magnificent but is no longer a restaurant. It has been bought to be converted into a luxury hotel. See you soon for more hikes!

Thank you for your comment. I don't like roads much either, but unfortunately, in some cases, they can't be avoided.
Best regards.

A pleasant hike with some beautiful views of the rolling countryside.
Far too much road for our liking, which is why we gave it an average rating.
The estimated time was very generous; it took us 2½ hours at a very moderate pace.

Thank you for your comment. Yes, it's a shame that the paths aren't used more often. Nature is reclaiming its rights, but in this case, it avoids the road.

At point 4, "the grassy path" is still visible but overgrown with brambles all the way up the hill.
From the Château de la Barre (point 10) to the end of the circuit, the path through the woods is very pleasant in the heat.
