From Maisse station to Coquibus via the Cyclop and the Moulin Grenat

Departure from Maisse station (RER line D).

(S) On leaving Maisse station, head for Rue de Milly (D837) and follow it to the left. After about a hundred metres, take the first left onto Rue de Rivière. Follow this street for about 800 metres until you reach the information sign, then turn right onto Rue des Bois. You will then join the^GR®1(very well signposted in red and white), which you follow to the left.

(1) At a place called Rivière, take the Chemin des Bruyères on the right, which leads into the forest. Follow this red and white-marked path, heading north-east and ignoring any side trails.

(2) Join a^PR® path (marked in yellow and blue) and continue north-north-east, then north.

(3) At the three-way junction, turn left. Head due west and ignore all side paths on the right.

(4) At the crossroads, leave the^GR®1(which goes straight on) and turn right onto the^PR®53towards Milly-la-Forêt. Cross the D105 road and continue along the^PR® at the edge of the woodland.

(5) At the next fork, turn right between the fields. Enter the woods again. At the junction, carry on straight ahead towards Milly-la-Forêt (signpost). Go downhill and turn left. Further on, turn right and continue downhill.

(6) At the corner of a field, continue along the^PR® to the left, then immediately to the right. Follow the well-marked^PR® heading south-east.

(7) First turn right then left, then carry on, and head due east on the^PR® (yellow markings).

(8) At the end of the path, turn right onto the cycle path. After about a hundred metres, turn right towards the Cyclop. You’ll soon reach the monumental sculpture.

(9) Retrace your steps.

(8) Continue north on the cycle path (shared route with the^PR®7and^GR®32).

(10) Carry on straight ahead along Rue de Cochet and leave the^GR®32. At the end of the street, turn right onto Ruelle à Moissy to join the^GR®11(red and white markings). Turn left onto Grand Rue, then immediately right. Turn left and continue north along the Sentier des Courtils de la Ville. Continue along the^GR® which leads back onto the Grande Rue next to the church.

(11) Then head east along the route signposted “Chemin des grès et des bruyères”, which follows Rue du Moulin.

(12) You’ll reach the Moulin Grenat and cross the lovely river “L’Ecole” via a small footbridge, where the old ford used to be. Continue along the small road that veers to the right.

(13) At the junction, go straight on eastwards towards the D372 road, which you should cross with care. Continue along the gravel path opposite for 1 km until you rejoin the^GR®11. Then follow the^GR®11signposts carefully

(14). Follow the^GR® to the left and, after about 250 metres.

(15) Turn right onto the Chemin de Courances à Coquibus, which climbs between the rocks.

(16) At a fork, turn right.

(17) At a T-junction, turn left. At the next fork, turn right, still following the^GR®11markings and staying on the Chemin de Courances à Coquibus. This will take you to the Ferme de Coquibus (E).

If you are not staying at the Coquibus farm, you can return to Milly-la-Forêt quickly and directly via the path from Milly to Coquibus.

The Cyclop (a work by Jean Tinguely, his wife Niki de Saint-Phalle and their friends) is open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 2 pm to 6.30 pm. Closed from November to March.
