From Gironville to Boigneville via Malesherbes

A hike from Gironville-sur-Essonne station to Boigneville station via Malesherbes, following the Essonne river on a route with very little elevation gain. Malesherbes is located on the border of Seine-et-Marne and is crossed by the Essonne river. On the agenda: castle, wash house, river, narrow streets, ponds and mills, passing through the pretty villages of Buno-Bonnevaux and Rouville, following the GR®1.

Description of the walk

Coming from Paris, Gare de Lyon: RER D towards Buno-Gironville. The return journey is on the same line from Boigneville station.

(S) From Buno-Gironville station, cross the level crossing and immediately turn right onto Rue Jean-Claude Brege towards Buno-Bonnevaux. Follow the railway line, ignore the paths that branch off to the left and continue straight ahead. When you reach the three-way junction, continue straight ahead, passing in front of the Buno-Bonnevaux Town Hall. Cross the Route du Petit Gironville, continue straight ahead, passing Place Jean-Marie Ferry and the Saint Leger Church.

(1) Continue along Rue Jean-Marie Ferry, then Route de Chantambre for about 1 km.

(2) At the village exit, at Croix Frappeau, stay on the road that enters the woods, then at a bench and a sign prohibiting motorcycles, turn left onto a small path called "Chemin des Sables" until you reach a road.

(3) Cross it and turn right onto Rue des Moulins. Then turn left onto Chemin de la Vieille Marmotte. Continue along the path and cross a river via Chemin de la Roche. Staying on the GR® 1, pass a pond and you will come to a road.

(4) Turn right, then do the same at Moulin Paillard. Walk along the pond, then turn left onto Route d'Argeville.

(5) Cross the hamlet of Argeville and pass in front of the castle.

(6) Pass in front of the Moulin de Roisneau, enter the Bois d'Argeville and arrive at the hamlet of Touvaux.

(7) Follow the road, keeping to the left, and cross the hamlet. This road becomes a path that passes between fields and woods, then arrives at a crossroads.

(8) Stay on the same path (GR® 1 and GR® 655) and ignore the paths on the right, then cross the Bois Biphard. Continue straight ahead until you reach a road.

(9) Turn left into Rouville and cross it towards the castle and chapel. Cross a road and continue straight ahead between fields and woods.

(10) Enter the woods on the left and continue along this path, following the GR® 1 markings, which lead to Chemin de Rouville. Then turn left onto Rue de la Martillière.

(11) At the road, turn right ontoRue de Soisy. The Moulin Mirabeau is on the left. Pass through Place du Martroy and then, at the crossroads, turn left onto Rue Saint-Martin. Pass in front of the Malesherbois town hall.

(12) At Place de l'Hôtel de Ville, turn right onto Rue de la République and, at the post office, turn left onto Rue du Cap Lelièvre. Pass in front of the Malesherbes Treasury.

(13) At Place Mazagran, turn right onto Rue Amiral Gourdon, pass Mazagran Petits primary school and then the Marcel Girard centre. Continue straight on Avenue Levis Mirepoix, then turn left onto Avenue du Général De Gaulle.

(14) Turn right onto Allée de Farcheville, which becomes a road. Turn right towards Malesherbes station.

(15) At the roundabout, continue straight ahead on Avenue Jean Cocteau. At the second roundabout, turn left onto Rue André Malraux until the next crossroads.

(16) Continue straight on Rue Jacques Prévert, cross a housing estate, then the road narrows to a small lane. Go through a barrier and continue straight on until you reach a road.

(17) Turn left onto Rue de Boigneville, D132, then leave Malesherbes. Continue along the road between the fields until you reach a large left-hand bend.

(18) Continue on the D132 road for about 2 km and enter Boigneville.

(19) Continue straight ahead towards the water tower and cross an industrial area.

(20) Before the big left turn, take a barely visible path on the left and you will come to a road. Turn left and continue for a few metres until you reach a fork.

(21) Turn right onto Chemin des Fonceaux and cross the Butte de Châtillon woods.

(22) At the intersection, turn left onto Route d'Argeville, cross the Velvette and arrive at Boigneville station (E).
