On leaving the village of Lepuix, leave the D465 and turn right onto a sloping road towards the Mont Jean district and the farm of the same name: there is a cross near the signposts. Follow this road to the point at altitude 632. You will find yourself below the Ferme du Mont Jean, and you can park at the edge of the forest or in another open space: there is very little traffic in this area.
(S/E) Go back about ten metres to the point at altitude 632, then take the path on the left. Follow it straight ahead, passing beautiful farms, a sheep farm and pretty pastures: to the west you can admire La Planche des Belles Filles. Reach the junction with the PR®, marked by a blue ring.
(1) Turn left and continue to the next junction, which is very close by.
(2) Turn left, leaving the PR®, to take the GR®, marked by a red rectangle, which leads to the Col du Chantoiseau.
(3) Continue straight ahead. The path on the left is a shortcut that leads to the Mont Jean farm and can be taken on the way back. You will reach a first fork at a place called Le Châtelot.
(4) Continue straight ahead and arrive at the Grande Roche crossroads.
(5) Go straight ahead, pass two paths on the left further on, and reach the ridge.
(6) Turn left, staying on the GR®, and continue straight ahead to reach the Col du Chantoiseau.
(7) Return via the same route to the car park (S/E).
