The walk starts at the car park on Place de la Mairie, behind the church.
(S/E) On the road to Chambord, turn right, with your back to the church. Take Rue du Docteur Audy, on the left after the post office.
(1) Turn right onto Rue de Richebourg and follow it until it bends to the right. Leave this street and take a grassy path on the left as it curves.
(2) At the junction, turn right, then left at the next one. Ignore the adjacent paths. Head off to the right along the footpath.
(3) At the crossroads of four paths, turn left and continue to a T-junction. Then turn left, leave the path immediately on your right and follow the path as it curves to the right. Continue in the same direction along the Chemin de la Croix Mercier, cross the Route des Grotteaux, then take the hard-surfaced track opposite.
(4) Turn right shortly after a house onto a grassy path that is not very visible. Turn left at the T-junction and carry on until you reach Rue de la Forêt, which you take to the right.
(5) At the junction with the Route de Chambord, turn left, then immediately right onto Rue de Nanteuil. Turn right when you reach Rue Creuse, passing Nanteuil Castle on your right.
(6) Turn right onto Rue du Parc at the four-way junction. This lane curves to the left.
(7) Take the tarmac path marked ‘Les Marais’ on the right at the junction.
(8) At the T-junction, you can turn right to view the Château des Grotteaux in its setting – the main highlight of the walk.
(9) Retrace your steps.
(8) Carry on straight ahead, then turn immediately right, ignoring the road that branches off to the left and leads uphill. Do the same with the adjacent turn-offs that follow. The walking route curves to the left, then to the right. It becomes Chemin de l’Oiselière, then Rue de l’Oisilière.
(10) Carry on straight ahead at the Croix Saint-My, on Rue de Biou. Cross the Cosson via the footbridge, continue along Rue du Pont until you reach the Route de Chambord, which you’ll take to the left to return to the starting point behind the church (S/E).
