From Ozoir-la-Ferrière to Yvris via the Ferrières Regional Forest

The Grande Randonnée trail, which crosses the massif from one side to the other, offers walkers idyllic scenes, such as the surroundings of the Mare du Cormier, or bucolic moments, such as chestnut picking! Within the Ferrieres and Armainvilliers forests, the route follows sections of the GRP® and PR® trails of the Briardes Valleys and Forests.

Description of the walk

This hike starts from the car park at Ozoir-la-Ferrière station. Both stations are located on the same section of the RER E line: park in the car park at either station and take the train to or from your destination .
The description and route cover the walk from Ozoir-la-Ferrière to Les Yvris Noisy-le-Grand.

(S) From the back of the car park, take the tunnel under the tracks to reach the Ferrière Forest.

(1) Turn right into the Forêt de la Brèche aux Loups and continue along the Route des Étangs on the PR®. It turns left and joins a crossroads.

(2) Turn left onto Route des Charbonniers, pass a crossroads and continue straight on to Carrefour du Sanglier.

(3) Continue straight ahead on Route des Usuelles, cross Carrefour des Usuelles and then Carrefour des Plants. Keep slightly to the left, cross Morbras, then cross the D21 (take care) and continue straight ahead to Carrefour de la Ferrandière.

(4) At this large crossroads just before the picnic tables, take the hairpin bend to the left onto the GRP®. Cross a stream then the Route de Roissy. A little further on, turn left and cross plots 218 and 243, cross a road and arrive at the Mare du Cormier.

(5) Turn right onto a small path, cross a road and continue for about 100 metres, then turn right at La Faisanderie between plots 268 and 269. When you reach Carrefour du Renard, turn left onto Allée du Tour du Parc. Pass under the high-voltage cables.

(6) When you reach a road in Roissy-en-Brie, continue straight ahead on the GRP® de la Brie Verte trail, on Allée de Montmartre in the Armainvilliers National Forest, then turn left towards the educational farm.

(7) At the farm car park, continue to the right and, a little further on, go under the Francilienne tunnel, then cross a road, go down the stairs and continue along the railway line via Rue Simone Veil until you reach the right-hand bend.

(8) At the Bois d'Emery Primary School, turn right onto Rue Simone Veil for about 150 metres and enter the Bois d'Émery, turning left. When you reach a roundabout

(9) Go around it on the right and cross (pedestrian crossing) and continue along the station, then turn right. At the large roundabout, turn left onto Boulevard Olof Palme, go along the CFAI Seine et Marne, then turn right onto the path, taking Allée de la Briarde until you reach the pedestrian crossing.

(10) Turn left onto Chemin des Vaches, cross a stream and, at the intersection, continue straight ahead. At the next intersection, turn left and continue for about 100 metres.

(11) Turn right onto the large Allée du Parc d'Emerainville, then right onto Chemin de Gournay, also known as Chemin des Princes, heading north for about 1.5 km. You will reach the first houses in Malnoue.

(12) Enter Malnoue at the edge of the forest and arrive at a road.

(13) Turn left onto Avenue Robert Schuman, then enter the woods on the left a few dozen metres further on.

(14) Cross the woods via Chemin de Gournay, ignoring the paths branching off to the left and right, and after a wide right-hand bend, you will come to a road.

(15) Take the hairpin bend to the left and you will come to Avenue du Bois Saint-Martin. Follow it straight ahead, passing in front of Collège Saint-Exupéry, and you will come to a fork.

(16) Turn left and arrive at the Yvris Noisy-le-Grand station (E).

An interesting route from station to station.
May be muddy after a spell of rain.

A pleasant route (with a few tricky sections, as the facilities for crossing the streams weren’t in very good condition—some were even completely dilapidated)—apart from the stretch through Emerainville, which I found very tough, as it was almost entirely exposed (and even though it was unseasonably hot and sunny, thankfully it wasn’t quite summer temperatures). A very muddy section towards the end as well, but that’s part of the forest experience. In spring there’s lily of the valley!
