On leaving the town of Apt towards the east, take the Digne road, passing the secondary school, then the bus station and the Intermarché supermarket. Continue for about 200 m and after a large bend, park in the car park of the "La Madeleine" retirement home on the left of the D900.
(S/E) Cross the road and take the small Rue Broet opposite, which ends in a cul-de-sac at the Rimayon gardens. The road continues along a path that goes straight on along the shared gardens.
(1) Turn left around a field and then, at the end of the path, turn right in front of the Château de Peyrolles. Walk along the Peyrolles estate and take the small road on the left. You will pass in front of the castle's entrance gate. Continue to the end of the road.
(2) Take the path on the left which climbs into the forest in wide bends until you reach a crossroads with a track. Follow the track on the right and continue until you reach the junction with the road. Take the road on the right, continue along this road, taking a large sharp bend until you reach thefirst junction.
(3) Take the left fork, go around a large bend and, at thesecond bend leading to an estate, leave the road and continue straight ahead on the path. Continue along this beautiful path until the next crossroads.
(4) Turn right onto the path on the left, which climbs up to the village of Saignon. Take the village road on the right and enter the village, climbing up the narrow streets, going around the secularised chapel and the old castle to reach the rock. Climb to the top of the rock where you will find the orientation table.
(5) At the top of the Saignon rock, you can enjoy a 360° view of the Lure mountain, the old village, the Luberon, Apt and the Ventoux. Descend by the same path, then go down into the village to the fountain.
(6) At the fountain, turn left onto Rue du Bourget. At the end of the tarmac road, continue for a few metres then take the path on the right. At the next junction, turn left, then continue straight on until you reach a road. Go down it on the left, then at the crossroads, turn right (D174) towards the RD900. Follow it to a place called Béranger and take the path that branches off to the left just before a big bend.
(7) Follow this path, which joins the Font de Montagne path, which you take to the left. The road soon ends but continues as a path. Continue along this path until the first fork to the right. Turn right and continue straight ahead, ignoring thefirst fork to the right and then the one to the left. At a crossroads with four paths, take thesecond one on the left.
Follow this path straight ahead, ignoring thefirst fork on the right and then thesecond on the left. Take thethird path on the left, which continues straight ahead to the Ginestière path. Turn right and follow this path straight ahead to the crossroads with the Ginestière path. Follow this small road to the next crossroads and take the first path on the left.
(8) Follow this path straight ahead, ignoring the turnings on the right and left. The path joins Chemin des Imbardes, a small road which you follow straight ahead. Cross the entire hamlet of La Madeleine, continuing straight ahead until you reach the D900. Take the D900 on the left to the Madeleine car park. Cross the road and return to the car park (S/E).
