Lago Santo
A beautiful hike. The relatively steep climb is rewarded with a view of this lake.
Note: if you want to hike all the way around the lake (to the left), you will have to cross a scree slope. If you prefer a more leisurely pace, you can hike to the right to the mountain hut.
From Manarola to Riomaggiore via the inland route
Access to Riomaggiore is via inland and less frequented paths. Depart from the church in Manarola and arrive at the castle in Riomaggiore by following marked paths through vineyards and groves.
From Riomaggore to Manarola
A surprising hike that avoids the Azzuro trail, which is currently closed between these two villages. Very challenging, as it goes from a steep climb to a dizzying descent. If you're afraid of stairs, don't attempt this hike!
Santuario di Nostra Signora di Montenero to Monte Della Madonna
This route takes you from Santuario di Nostra Signora di Montenero to Monte Della Madonna, over Monte Dei Fraschi, and back towards the road via Toretto. I stopped at Monte Della Madonna for a well deserved lunch break.
From Monterosso to Vernazza
This is one of the most beautiful trails on the Cinque Terre coast. Passing through vineyards and forests with Mediterranean vegetation, it offers magnificent views at every turn with the sea as a backdrop. Fairly easy despite a steep climb at the start, it allows you to soak up the atmosphere of the Cinque Terre!
(!) User comment 30-09-2025: there is a charge for the trail or it is included in the train ticket
From Bettola to Rossoreggio
Walk from Bettola to Rossoregio through the woods.
The climb up to Selva is a bit tough and exposed to the sun.
But after that, it climbs gently and quietly through the woods.
You arrive at a plateau and then descend to Rossoregio, a picturesque little village.
Cinque Terre - Levanto to Monterosso
Trail in the Cinque Terre region from Levanto to Monterosso, the first village in the Cinque Terre (near Genoa and Pisa in Italy), following the SVA trail closest to the coast.
Levanto is one of the best places to visit the five villages by train and go hiking.
This allows you to walk from Levanto to Monterosso without taking the train at the start. Return by train.
