ITALY 142 DAY 4 MONEGLIA - MONTEROSSO - MANAROLA - MONEGLIA

(S) Departure from Monterosso

Start of the walk: The Monterosso promenade
Head east along the beach. You will reach a narrow road that climbs, and will soon see a path on your right.
At the first junction on the path, turn left towards Vernazza.
Stay on the main path, following the signposts.
You arrive in Vernazza. Take the narrow lane until you reach a wider street. After visiting the harbour on the right, return to this point and take the street uphill.
You will pass under the railway line and turn right onto the steps signposted towards Corniglia.

GPS Point 1: Corniglia
Go and visit the village, then follow the signs from the small square. Head towards the church, take the steps behind it, and follow the path leading up to La Cigoletta.
Continue along the paved path, which turns into a footpath. You’ll come to a junction with a path on your right signposted Volastra. Follow this path.
You’ll cross a stream bed, follow it upstream for a few metres, then take the path on the right.
You’ll emerge from the forest and come to some farmland, then a solitary house. Go round the house to the right and follow the path to Volastra.

GPS Point 2: Volastra
Once at the church, walk past it on the left, go down the steps, then head down the cobbled street on the right.
Take the first left, then after 30 metres, follow the path that descends to the right.
Your path will take you through a small hamlet; after this, you will see a fork on the right, and you should then take the Panoramic path, marked 6P.
Follow this balcony path, going round the metal sign whilst staying on the balcony.
You will then come to a junction; straight ahead, the path leads only to the vineyards, so head down to the left, past a small house.
You will come to some steps which you should go down. Straight ahead takes you into the centre of the village; the route described below is the one taking a right, towards the harbour.
The path will take you towards the northern end of Manarola, with views of Punta Bonfiglio, then we descend to the level of the cemetery, towards the port of Manarola.
To get to the station, walk up the pedestrian street and cross the square. Immediately after, take the tunnel on your right.
