Col de Serenne and Crête de la Selle from Vars

Park at Les Juants just above Sainte-Catherine or, if there is no space in the village below

(S/E) Turn left onto the higher path towards the Col de la Coulette. Cross a stream in the Ravin du Grand Béal and arrive at a crossroads.

(1) Turn right and, after passing picnic tables and a cistern, join the path that leads to the Couniets car park.

(2) Climb up to Col de Serenne via a winding path.

(3) Do not descend, but take the ridge that climbs up and joins the path coming from the Col de Serenne (very steep).

(4) Take the ridge heading south, pass Lac de l'Étoile before descending to the start of Crête de la Selle.

(5) Follow this ridge to the right, north-west, for 3 km, veering slightly left at the 2463 m altitude to descend to the Col de la Selle (small lake).

(6) Turn right, skirting the small lake on the right, and descend northwards via hairpin bends to reach the forest and the Torrent de Chagnon.

(7) Follow this stream on the right bank to the Pont de la Salce.

(8) Go up to the right along a track to the Juants car park (S/E).
